Difficulty finding the right value for Campbell in a keeper league.

This is a 12 team league, with 14 man rosters. We get to keep 8 players every year with no penalty. Anyway, I have two QBs - Cutler and Campbell. Another guy only has Alex Smith, but he's pretty loaded at RB and WR.

 

The only players he has who I really want are Portis or Chad Johnson. Obviously they are both worth a lot more than Campbell, so I offered him future draft picks in addition to Campbell or Cutler to make the deal closer. He said he wasn't interested in picks, and that he wanted to win this year.

 

So I said fine, why don't you give me your first and fourth rounder next year for Campbell. I figured he'd counter with a 2, or maybe a 2 and a 3 if I gave him a 4, something like that. He's 2-0 and despite his QB will probably be a playoff team, so I don't expect his first rounder to be a very good one. Anyway, he thinks I'm asking way too much. I asked him to just pick a draft pick value to put on Campbell and he hasn't been able to - same with Cutler. He also offered me Lamont Jordan for Marshawn Lynch and Cutler, which I obviously declined.

 

Sorry to ramble, but seriously, in a keeper league like this what draft pick or picks is Campbell or Cutler worth? I figure I'll only keep one of them so I'd be happy to get anything. As he's starting Smith against Pitt unless he makes a trade I think I'll get a real offer before linup submission time.

I can't help much with draft value because I've never done that type of league. From my perspective, I wouldn't think Campbell is worth a 1st rounder. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Thanks for the help...I think Campbell would be worth a 7th-8th pick. He is not an elite QB worthy of a 2nd-4th pick. Only 4-5 QBs go in the first five rounds anyway. He is, in my opinion, not even a top 10 QB, so anything higher than that you should feel lucky. I am in a 10 team, two player keeper and Campbell was not drafted. Cutler has great value to me. He is worth a 4th or 5th. I could see him within 2-3 years being a top 3 guy going in round 2 like Palmer and Bulger this year.

No way I'd trade Cutler away in this league for draft picks. Since he is the desperate one, I would sit tight until he sweetens the deal.
