smetana34 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Just got home from my draft. Had the 8th pick in a 10 man keeper league. 3 points passing td, 1 point for 50 yards passing, 6 for rushing/receiving touchdowns, and 1 point for 25 yards receiving/rushing. No PPR. Start 1 QB, 2 RB's, 3 WR's, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D/ST QB Aaron Rodgers (9) QB Phillip Rivers (11) RB Marion Barber (1) RB Jones - Drew (2) RB Selvin Young (5) RB Ronnie Brown(6) RB Andre Hall (12) WR Andre Johnson(3) WR Wes Welker (4) WR Anthony Gonzalez (8) WR DJ Hackett (13) TE Kellen Winslow (7) TE Chris Cooley (10) K Vinatieri (14) K Dawson(15) K Seattle (16) This was a weird draft. LT and AP went 1-2, but then Addai, Brady, Jackson, and Moss followed. So Westbrook fell to 7, and Barber fell to me at 8. Then, Edwards, TO, Wayne, and Romo followed. So there wasnt much of a run on RB's. By the middle of the 3rd, Romo Manning, Brady, and Brees were all gone, and most of the top WR's as well. So i waited awhile to grab a QB and ended up with Rodgers/Rivers, which im not to thrilled about. If Harrison doesnt play much, Gonzalez will be a solid #3. If Harrison plays, im hurting at WR. What should i do? Sit tight and let things ride, or make a move to get another WR or QB? To get a QB i want, however, would cost a pretty penny. After the top 4, i dont like any of the options. HELP! mrgymrat 0 Posted September 2, 2008 I would say try to upgrade your #3 WR position. It will cost you less. As noted, that's your weakest position. Good luck. ----- My question: http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=321335
westskins 0 Posted September 2, 2008 I agree with mrgymrat, Gonzalez is a bit of a risk when you have to play 3 WR
smetana34 0 Posted September 2, 2008 I agree with mrgymrat, Gonzalez is a bit of a risk when you have to play 3 WR Berrian is still available. Should i grab him and dump hackett?
Nanda 0 Posted September 2, 2008 You were right to wait on QBs. Your league doesn't really reward them. Gonzo at WR3 is not the strongest. I'd definitely go to war with your starters. If Andre gives you 14+ games, you should be in great shape. Help here? http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=321338

I really don't like your scoring system because I believe QB's should be the most valuable fantasy players just as they are in real football. I believe in a 5 or 6 points for passing TD's and also believe in 1-10 for rushing and receiving yrds & 1-25 for passing. But not my league, not my rules. Nice overall team but I think you probably reached for A Gonzalez as a #3 receiver. I would have focused on receivers a bit more.
JakeinTX 0 Posted September 2, 2008 MBIII is going to be top 3 + only thing I could add beyond upgrading WR3 (you can easily grab someone off waivers in the first three weeks) is to hope that Shanahan sticks with Young ... if he starts showing signs of resting him too much, find the Donkeys fan in your league and try to deal him straight up for another Tier 3 or 4 RB. Good luck and hope for both of us that Rodgers picks up where Favre left off with Driver/Jennings/Jones.

It was certainly the most weird draft ive ever been apart of. Its like nobody wanted RB's this year. Only 7 Rb's went in the first 13 picks. And 4 of those were to me and the guy in the 7 hole. All the WR's and QB's are spread between the other 8 teams. It sucked bad

mrgymrat 0 Posted September 2, 2008 I couldn't go to Berrian... Tavaris is just too shaky. can you make a deal for Coles? He's on the bench in some of my leagues, I traded for him. Look to see who needs an RB and then who also has a servicable WR on their bench. Are any of these guys available? DeSean, Meachem, Hardy? Chris Henry maybe long term? Vince Jackson might also be ok, he's available in some of my leagues. Maybe even take a shot a Hester? Do you get pts for Indiv. Kick Returns? (I get pts for that in my $$ league)

Hardy is out there, but i read that he hasnt impressed at all. Henry might be worth a look. Is he hurt at all? Or suspended?
wags83 0 Posted September 2, 2008 With your scoring, I think you're right to wait on a QB. Those rules are brutal for QBs so I wouldn't have taken a top tier one even if available. You really need TDs out of your RBs and WRs with that scoring system so I like the RB picks a lot. Both of those guys have a nose for the end zone. I'd say definitely try to upgrade your 3rd WR. I'm not sure about carrying two TEs either, I would try to put together a package using one of them to nab that 3rd WR from someone who is weak at TE. Unfortunately I think you might have to use Winslow as your trade bait and keep Cooley yourself, which could work out but I really like Winslow to have a big year this year. Finally, kinda a random observation, I think 5th round in a 10 man league is way too early for Selvin Young. Shanahan could screw you at any moment.
smartgenius 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Gonzales is definitely a risk at #3 WR, so I would make a move there packaging Winslow and someone else (R. Brown?) to a team that is weak at TE. Cooley is a decent starter there and should score TDs, and you might get a pretty good #2 WR at #3 making that the bckbone of your team (and not sucking lots of points from other positions). See mine again, lol-- www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?act=post&do=reply_post&f=13&t=321345

ugadawgs97 0 Posted September 3, 2008 I think you just sit pat for a couple of weeks and see how things play out and then make a move there if necessary. Don't rush to make a move.
