PackYourNut 47 Posted August 2, 2009 In most mocks it's AP, MJD, Turner or some variation thereof. So who has the best upside of the rest of the backs or is a WR a good pick? In the mocks I have done you can get Forte, LT, SJ etc, but your WR core goes down significantly with Jennings, White, SS or Colston left. However, if you take Moss or Fitz at 4, you usually still get R. Brown/Grant with your next two picks. There is also some really good value late with Parker or Benson if you choose to go WR. I always lean toward RB in the 1st especially if inside the top 4, but I am having hard time deciding. I expect a good year from LT, despite what the naysayers say, but I can see Forte being even better with Cutler. If I do decide to go RB, who do you think has the best potential? TD heavy league with long TD's being a bonus.

Although Tomlinson was a little hurt last season, I'm not sure how he'll rebound and I'm sure the Chargers will try to get Sproles more involved in the offense after franchising him. Forte & SJax will both be heavily involved in their teams' offenses, running and catching the ball. Forte's ypc concerns me a bit, as does SJax's supporting cast; however, I think both end up in the top-10 at the end of the year. I'm really high on DeAngelo this season. In my opinion, he's THE guy in a run-heavy offense despite the presence of Jonathan Stewart (who should be the backup). I'd rather have a RB-WR combo of Forte/SS, SJax/Jennings, DeAngelo/Colston, etc. than a WR-RB combo of Fitz/Brown.
dschddny 0 Posted August 3, 2009 I'd go with DeAngelo Williams!
Blaneyfan 0 Posted August 3, 2009 From #4 I'm ridin' LT one more time. I know some people are a little down on him, but I think it's a little premature to say he's done yet.

gunnergip 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Way too many red flags around a guy like LT to take him 4th. It is silly to completely write off the guy, but making him a top 5 pick is a really really big risk/reward. I'd rather have Matt Forte than D Williams based on the sole fact Forte does not have a John Stewart type player cutting into his carries. Also, thinking that Williams will put up a full season of numbers similar to his second half 2008 is absurd. I don't know if the long td scoring system applies to all players (qb, rb, and wr) but I'd take Forte; dude is going to have his hands on the ball a ton.
