Keeper Choice: DeAngelo or Pierre?

Recommended Posts

So without digging into the details too much, I am faced with a tough choice in my upcoming keeper-league draft. This is a 10-team league that has played together for many years, and I'd like to repeat as champion. :(

So I'm keeping MJD and Brees, which will cost me my 1st and 2nd round picks. No-brainers there. The choice comes when I look at my 3rd keeper, and have to decide between DeAngelo Williams, which would cost me my 4th round pick, or Pierre Thomas, which would cost me my 12th round pick.

Obviously PT is the better value, and a steal in the 12th round. But can I consider him an every week starter? Can I be confident enough in getting a 3rd RB in rounds 3-5 to back him up? I guess the real question is if DeAngelo is that much better than PT, and worth the significantly higher pick. I like him, but I wonder if his value is that much higher. Going PT and keeping that 4th round pick would net me much better WR options in rounds 3-5, I would think...

Thoughts? Opinions? What would you do in my situation?

I'd keep Deangelo in the 4th. You still have your 3rd rounder to snag a WR. Or hell, you could still prolly snag Pierre if for some reason you wanted another top RB.

I agree.

no need to keep Pierre when you can get him back in the draft(if you want him)

Personally I'd say DeAngelo is looking to have pretty good upside now that Stewart is hurt. You dont want to deny yourself that upside.

I say keep Pierre and binge on WR's. I doubt DW's production is going to outpace PT's by 8 rounds.

I agree.

To me it depends on what other RBs are off the board from the other teams keepers. I like the fact that Thomas only costs a 12th rounder, but who is then available for you to select earlier on?
