April Burford Watson, 33, a math teacher junior varsity cheerleader adviser at Jay High School in Jay, Florida along with fellow teacher Ashley Elenea Burkett has been arrested on allegations of having sex with male juveniles in the teachers’ homes during 2007.

Both Watson and Burkett turned themselves in today and were reportedly booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail on three counts each of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a second degree felony and were subsequently released on $50,000 bond each.

 

Watson and Burkett came to the attention of authorities on July 28, 2009 after an anonymous letter was sent to the Santa Rosa County School District alleging sexual relationships between two Jay High School teachers and male juveniles. School officials turned the information over to the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office for investigation.

 

Reportedly, two of the boys alleged that they were involved in sexual activity with Watson at her residence and the residence of Burkett between the months of July and October 2007. One other victim alleged that he was involved in sexual activity with Burkett at her residence and the residence of Watson between the months of July and October 2007.

 

Sheriff’s investigators say that both of the suspects were questioned and that they both admitted to the alleged unlawful sexual activity.

 

Both Watson and Burkett were outfitted with GPS tracking devices when released on bond.

Would you be saying this if the roles were reversed and the teacher was a man having young women drive themselves to his house? The fact is that no matter HOW you look at it if you are a teacher you can't have sex with students. Period. Male or Female.

I consider them victims because a person in position of authority who knew it was wrong and illegal had sex with them. Weather they are boys or girls. Weather they drove themselves to her house grinning ear to ear dictating a letter to penthouse has little to do with it. Its still wrong and illegal.
