Saintmaniac 0 Posted September 6, 2010 Which players play a position and return kickoff and punts? Leon Washinton Amendela WR-Rams Who else? What DBs get return yards? Thanks!
steelers2101 7 Posted September 6, 2010 There are a couple other threads on this subject already, but here you go: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/features/column.aspx?sport=NFL&columnid=71&articleid=36073 This will tell you just about everyone who is returning punts and kicks, though there have been a couple recent changes. The #1 return man/WR player is probably Percy Harvin who will remain the kick returner and may take on some punts. DeSean returns punts and McCluster may be a good one too. Mike Thomas and Devin Thomas are #2 WRs for their teams who return kicks. I'm sure there are others if you look through. The IDPs you will want to target are Danieal Manning and Ellis Hobbs, both who start in the secondary and return kicks. They should be extremely valuable DB plays. Javier Arenas will play nickel back for KC and will return punts and maybe some kicks (he or McCluster). I'm not sold due to the inconsistency of him being just a nickel back. Saintmaniac 0 Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks! Is Jacoby Jones returning punts/ko's this year?
R8RMick 242 Posted September 7, 2010 I think Javier Arenas is your best bet at IDP. KC plans to use him extensively at PR, and he will share KR with McCluster. He's already busted a couple kick returns this preseason. Also, as a nickel back he should be good for 4-5 tackles, a defended pass etc. He's held his own defensively this preseason, for whatever that's worth. The kid's got explosive skills, he was a return specialist in college and was drafted as such. Will Blackmon may get this role back in GB, but he was more of a dime CB. Ladarius Webb in Baltimore as well, though Webb had taken over the starting CB job before he go hurt last season.

The scouting report on Arenas is that he's small and lacks great speed. But he does an excellent job of supporting against the run. He had 12 tackles for loss last season, which if you think about it is pretty incredible for a corner coming up to play the run. He fights off blocks surprisingly well, and tackles well in the open field. He plays well in zone coverage and has good instincts, almost always getting himself in good position to break on the ball because of his anticipation skills. This sounds like a good nickel back, maybe someone who could handle a slot reciever. He's made a career out of being a heady, tough cornerback who knows how to get good positioning. He's been Alabama's chief return man since his freshman season. On punts, Arenas is about as good as there is in the 2010 NFL Draft. DB is not a terribly important position on a fantasy team which carries IDP's, but there is an upside for advantage if your league allows, say, 1 pt/20 return yards or so.
