Draft Strategy - 10 team, 2 QB, PPR

Recommended Posts

My cousin invited me to join a 10-team, 2 QB, PPR redraft league. I've never drafted a league in that format and unfortunately you can't customize mocks (at least not on ESPN) to draft that roster, so I'm looking for some input.

I've been doing some research and I think going QB/QB at 1.07 and 2.04 is a good strategy. I'm also thinking of going QB/RB and then QB/WR. My feeling on the WR is that in a PPR, the depth there is greater than the depth at RB, so if I wait and go for volume at WR, I'll be okay.

Based on the league scoring, QBs were 6 of the Top 10 and 9 of the Top 25 in 2010. Also, in a 10-team 2-QB league, you'll be playing 20 of the 32 NFL starters. You'll also have about 10 more starters (30 of the 32) as backups.

So, guys like Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Beck/Grossman, Orton/Tebow, Jason Campbell, Tavaris Jackson and Alex Smith will be probably be owned and likely need to start 2 games on the byes.

I think I would be happy with Vick or Rodgers in the 1st round and grabbing the next best available QB (I'm thinking it will be Rivers, the guy drafting after me has the same strategy and will probably grab Brady and Brees) in the 2nd.

If you could draft two Top 10 guys in a 10-team league, you should just do it, right? Regardless of position. Or should I grab 1 of those Top 10 players and get the best available RB? Thanks for the help

I'm not so sure Vick or Rodgers will be there at 7. You better have a backup plan if the first six players taken are QBs. If so you could end up going Romo in the first and Cutler in the 2nd :shocking:

Thankfully I don't think everybody has picked up on the importance of QB. I've heard rumblings from the owners in front of me about who they're looking at and it's all been RBs (Foster, Rice, Charles, etc). I think there's a pretty good chance the top 6 taken are all RBs. Obviously you never know until draft day, but my fingers are crossed

I am doing the 10 team 2 qb league for the first time on sunday and I pick 5th. I have alot of thoughts as far as my draft (understanding that nobody else in the league has ever done a 2qb league). I would like to take two qbs in the first two rounds but I am prepared to take the number one or two rb if qbs come off quick, and then settle for qbs in the next two rounds. I might be able to get a romo and stafford in rounds two and three but i would prefer brees or brady and then ryan or freeman in round 2. We shall see i suppose but i will have to restrategize quickly...lol. Let me know how your draft goes

If 4 of the 6 in front of you don't take a QB you can dominate this league because they are morons :dunno:

My draft was last Sunday...Here's how my draft shook out in the first few rounds...I decided to go strong at QB and WR...two guys went HEAVY on the RBs, so I'm going to try and work a deal...If I had to roll with Jackson, Best and Greene, it's not terrible, but could be stronger. I did end up stealing Benson and Daniel Thomas late, so they definitely help round out my RB depth. No clear #1 RB, just a mix of #2s and 3s; but I have 2 #1 QBs which makes up for it.

I would highly suggest grabbing 2 QBs in the first 4 picks. Not everybody read the draft right, and we have teams with Colt McCoy, Donovan McNabb and Mark Sanchez as starters. Not the best approach, in my opinon.

1- Rodgers

2- Calvin

3- Romo

4- SJax

5- Mike Williams TB

6- Jahvid

7- Shonn Greene

8- Brandon Lloyd
