Using CCDB to display draft on a projector live

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is an excel specific question but is it possible to detach one of the tabs - specifically the "grid" tab - in to its own window and have everything still function correctly?

We are doing a live draft and the idea is that I would use the program normally during the draft but could stick the "grid" tab on just the projector so the rest of the league could see who has been picked. What do you think?

I'm not that familiar with projectors and what screen they capture - all or none or selected window. The problem, as you can guess, is the CC/DB is a single file. You switch between tabs and I'm not sure you can lock a single tab for the projector to show. I do like the grid tab though and glad I added that back in. And nice it shows the keeper picks now.

Anyway, a couple things I would try/consider...

- perhaps a dual monitor set up on the computer, with the projector capturing one of the monitors (with the grid, while the other screen is the full file)?

- you can create more than one window with the same Excel file. Window > New Window. that might be helpful. updating one will update the other

- still not sure how you would switch tabs and keep the tabs hidden except the grid one since it is all run in the same program

- I believe if you start 2 instances of Excel, the files will not update. plus your computer will likely run rather slow

If anyone has any experience with this please chime in.

A projector actually works exactly the same as a second monitor so this may work.

If the 2 windows do update each other this may actually work. I'll have to do some experimenting.

Thanks for the quick response!
