Broheim Steamrollers 0 Posted August 30, 2011 Hey guys, this is my first post about my first draft ever. I'm in a 10 team standard league. I'd just like some input on possible weak spots. My starters are in bold, followed by bench. QB - Matt Schaub RB - Chris Johnson, LeSean McCoy, Cedric Benson, Mark Ingram, Delone Carter Flex - Benson/Ingram/3rd WR WR - Hakeem Nicks, Miles Austin, Steve Johnson, Brandon Lloyd, Mike Sims-Walker, Hines Ward TE - Kellen Winslow, Tony Moeaki Kicker - Josh Brown D/ST - Chargers As mentioned above, I have no idea what normal protocol is for the flex spot. Do you normally start a 3rd RB or WR? Thanks a ton.
gordonjerry 0 Posted August 30, 2011 QB - Matt Schaub RB - Chris Johnson, LeSean McCoy, Cedric Benson, Mark Ingram, Delone Carter Flex - Benson/Ingram/3rd WR WR - Hakeem Nicks, Miles Austin, Steve Johnson, Brandon Lloyd, Mike Sims-Walker, Hines Ward TE - Kellen Winslow, Tony Moeaki Kicker - Josh Brown D/ST - Chargers Likes: You backed up CJ with productive Rb's. When CJ signs this team could go from good to great. Dislikes/suggestions: I am being picky but here is what I would do with your depth- TE can maybe use an upgrade through trading WE or RB depth. Schaub can get it done but You may want to try and upgrade him and keep Keep the TE as is. Overall good team but you can possibly make it even better! Look at other rosters in your league and start packaging offers to improve your team and help them out at RB or WR.
montana 89 Posted August 30, 2011 I'd drop Ward & get a back up QB. I'd look at upgrading your TE too (keep KW2, drop Tony) Both should be available thru FA. At TE/QB - who is still available? You have a very good team & should be proud as I've seen seasoned vets walk away with half of what you got! Good luck & welcome to the bored (& FF for that matter- your Fall weekends will NEVER be the same)!
Broheim Steamrollers 0 Posted August 30, 2011 Thanks for the help. I agree TE could use some help and our pool of free agents isn't the greatest. Chris Cooley is the best remaining. So, if I wanted to target someone like Jason Witten what kind of package would I have to throw together? Or is it even worth it to go for a TE in the top of the 2nd tier? I feel pretty good about Schaub and what he can do. I'll definitely look into dropping Ward and picking up a backup. Quick question though, would I only play the backup on Schaub's bye or if he's going against a really good defense?
Fantasy Noob 10 Posted August 30, 2011 Decent squad, you need a backup QB hopefully one with some upside. Backup is simply due to Schaub potentially getting hurt, his first couple years as starter he had a rep for being injury prone. Just something to keep an eye on. I like Benson in traditional leagues quite a bit this year, that guy is going to get a ton of chances as long as he does not get injured or go to jail ! As long as he remembers to fall forward he is likely to rack up 1350yds/10TD's, it will be ugly but thats the great thing about FF you don't have to watch it just enjoy the final numbers. If the TE pool is that shallow, I would wait both your guys have decent upside and you can play matchups with them, but I don't know enough about defenses to know how to determine which TE you should start....so best of luck there. I would wait to trade but when you do use your WR depth to upgrade elsewhere. Between Lloyd, Johnson, MSW one of those guys is likely going to have a breakout #2WR with upside #1WR type year (or take off where they left off). I would actually shop Miles as he probably would bring the most back. As a lark put Miles/Mccoy up on tradeblock and see if you could get a stud #1RB in return. McCoy actually takes a fairly hard hit in non-ppr leagues and with Cj2k potentially missing time your actually in a bit of a bind at RB for the early season. But only take a very good offer. (You know if your a crazy gambler you could hit up the Foster owner, Foster/Cj2k would be the ultimate risk/reward backfield and you might get Foster at a discount). Broheim Steamrollers 0 Posted August 30, 2011 Awesome advice Fantasy, thanks! I hadn't thought about trying to grab a 2nd stud RB. I do feel like my WR corps is deep enough to shop Austin. Before I read your post I was dreaming of possibly acquiring Rodgers. I'm not sure what a fair trade offer would be to the owner, or if I would gut my team going for him. Anymore great input? I don't like Benson in my league, but in a traditional league he's good for you. At almost all of your positions you have great starters.
