stick 2 Posted September 12, 2003 September 10, 2003 11:29 PM ET Saints: Carter expected to sign today The News The Saints are expected to sign running back Ki-Jana Carter today, the Times-Picayune reports. Carter was waived by the Saints on Aug. 31 after leading the team in rushing during the preseason. Reserve defensive back Michael Hawthorne was waived on Tuesday to make room on the roster. Our View Ki-Jana will compete with James Fenderson as Deuce McAllister’s main backup. The team wasn’t satisfied with Fenderson in that role, so look for Carter to be named the main backup soon. stick 2 Posted September 12, 2003 EVEN BETTER THAN MY FIRST POST REGARDING THIS! September 11, 2003 1:09 PM ET Saints: Saints sign Carter The News As expected, the Saints signed running back Ki-Jana Carter yesterday to compete with James Fenderson for the backup spot behind Deuce McAllister. "We felt that he had a good preseason for us, and we just wanted to make sure that we keep our options open with the running back spot," coach Jim Haslett told the Times Picayune. ". . . We just felt like we needed to have another running back on the roster." Our View Haslett hasn’t officially named Carter the primary backup or activated him for Sunday's game...yet. However, we think Ki-Jana will make short work of Fenderson and be the guy you want to handcuff to McAllister. ~STICK
DrJ 0 Posted September 12, 2003 Yah, they thought soooo much of him that they cut him so they wouldn't have to guarantee his contract! Although, I guess when you can't even field a starting lineup, these wannabe backups are big news for you!
