Peyton Manning's Trade Value (Auction Keeper Draft)

Recommended Posts

In a dynasty auction PPR($100 cap) league, here is how i'm looking going into the the season. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF

QBs - E Manning ($7)

RBs - A Foster ($13), W McGahee ($2)

WRs - H Nicks ($11), G Jennings ($12), E Decker ($6)

TE - J Finley ($9)

Total spent - $60. I would have $40 to spend on a starting RB (Mcgahee is a solid backup), and a potential upgrade #3 receiver over Decker (very high on decker though) and bench players so i think i'm in good shape.

I also have P Manning ($17) who I stashed all of last year hoping he would play and 49ers D ($3) who i'm not sure if a D is worth keeping for $3. There aren't many teams that need a QB who would be willing to spend $17 on Manning. If i don't find any takers, he will most likely dropped before the draft. Should I:

>Try to trade Peyton for anything i can get (Manning for Ben Tate ($3) straight up - would like to have fosters backup)

>Package Peyton and Decker to try to upgrade #3 receiver? Who could i target?

>Go into the draft with $40 to spend

>Other ideas?

Peyton for Tate at $3 seems like a no brainer as a Foster owner.

I like Decker a lot too in PPR and think he will be fine as a WR3. If Peyton ends up having a huge year and helping one of your opponents, at least Decker should benefit.

Made an initial offer of Peyton Manning ($17) for Ben Tate (3) and Titus Young (4). Not sure the likelyhood of this happening but Peyton would start on his team while Tate and Titus Young are backups with huge upside. All depends if he is willing to pay $17 for Manning.

I would definitely try and trade Peyton.

Hard to tell you who to go after or how much money to go into the auction with, without knowing who would be available.

Not knowing that, I would try and deal Peyton for your RB2 or WR3 straight up. Forget Tate, is the guy really going to keep him? If not, just snag him in the auction.

For $3, I definitely think Tate will be kept. An injury to Foster makes Tate a top RB and he is actually a serviceable rb even with foster healthy. Drop deadline is Aug 1st so I need to trade Peyton before then or get nothing in return. Only a few teams need a QB and/or would be willing to take on Peyton at his current rate of $17.

I also have the option of keeping Steven Jackson at $24. There are alot of teams in need of RBs in my league so top ones will go for alot. SJax went for $22 last year. My initial plan was to drop him but now am considering keeping him.

QBs - E Manning ($7)

RBs - A Foster ($13), SJax ($24), W McGahee ($2)

WRs - H Nicks ($11), G Jennings ($12), E Decker ($6)

TE - J Finley ($9)

D - 49ers ($3)

Total - $87

If Peyton nets me Tate (3) and Young (4), that takes care of 4th WR and 4th RB, that would leave me with $6 to fill kicker ($1),backup TE ($1), Bench player(1), Bench Player (1), Backup QB ($2).

Is SJax keepable at the price? Could also save $2 by not keeping 49ers D?

Thoughts?

It's difficult to say if Jackson is worth keeping at $24 without knowing who may be available in the draft or what other RBs prices are. If you had planned on getting a RB2 in the draft, what type of player were you targeting and at what price?

The rb market will be VERY slim. I was probably going to allocate $16-$20 for my #2 RB but overpaying a few bucks to guarantee i get a top rb may be worth it. Here are the RBs that I think will be available to draft. Sjax, Gore, AP, Trent Richardson, Doug Martin, J Best (injury concern), M Ingram, rookie rbs. Those top RBs will probably go for a premium. My biggest concern is if i keep Sjax at 24 is that I limit my bench potential as I'll have little budget to spend on backups. My starters would be very solid though.
