Analyze My First Draft/Team

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, fantasy newbie and first time poster. As I'm a total newbie I'm looking for some feedback on my first ever draft and an analysis of my team......where am I strong, what areas need improvement, etc. The draft just took place today and I'd love to get a jump on the waiver wire and/or trades to improve things if necessary.

10 team, start 2 QB, standard scoring (4 yards passing TD, 6 Running TD)

Start: 2QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1 DEF Bench: 6 positions

I drafted 8th overall in the snake draft, with all teams required to fill their starting roster before drafting any bench players. Here's my team:

QB1: Drew Brees - 1st round (ecstatic to get top tier QB at 8 spot)

QB2: Tony Romo - 3rd round (started the QB run, liked this pick in 2 QB setup)

RB1: Chris Johnson -2nd round (very happy to snag him on the way back)

RB2: DeMarco Murray - 4th round

WR1: Brandon Marshall - 5th round

WR2: Hakeem Nicks - 6th round

WR3: Jeremy Machlin - 8th Round

TE: Jermichael Finley - 7th Round

K: Rob Bironas - 9th round

DEF: New England -10 round

Bench: QB: Matt Cassel

QB: Tim Tebow (final pick, why the hell not)

RB: Donald Brown

WR: Robert Meachum

WR: Randall Cobb

TE :Brent Celek

Any and all help/feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

I'd drop celek and tebow for another RB maybe 2 an is there another QB thats at least a starter? I know in a 2 QB system it's tough but both those roster spots are wasted. In a 10 teamer you can get a bye week TE anywhere and your bench is so small a non starter is a wasted spot. Tebow won't start anytime soon and won't score consistently as a wildcat or whatever they are doing with him. Move on.

Positive:

Brees (obviously)

Murray

Nicks (after he shakes off the rust from not playing for a while)

Brown (going to get a lot of touches)

NE Def (I think they will be a top 5 FF Def this season)

Negatives:

Johnson (Not CJ2K anymore, will only play well against terrible Def (like TB in the preseason, who all RBs went off on) and will frustrate you the rest of the season. Look at the stats, not the media hype)

Finely (I might be wrong on this one, but he was so terribly inconsistent last season, and I don't think that will change this season)

Cobb, Meachum and Celek are keeping the seats warm for your future waiver wire pickups.

Your QB's are what's going to carry your team, nice pickup.
