Yahoo question

In a yahoo league i am in, the league settings say: Lock Eliminated Teams: Yes.

What constitutes an eliminated team? I was under the assumption that it meant "not in the playoffs". But of course this week a team not in the playoffs dropped a pretty big name player (albeit one who is hampered by injury right now, and isnt expected to play this weekend)

The fact that he was able to drop him at all makes it pretty obvious that "eliminated" does not mean "not in the playoffs" , unless this is a mistake, or loophole. And unless this is a mistake, or loophole, since the owner wouldnt have broken a rule, im inclined leave it be. He did add a hot player right now at a different position when he dropped the injured star. I dont get the feeling he did this to be malicious. But if this player were to get healthy, he could be a difference maker week 14 and/or 15.

OK now im looking at the commish tools again, and i see the spot to manually lock out teams. Even though it says "Lock Eliminated Teams: Yes" on the settings page, was i supposed to do it manually? I assumed the league would lock those teams automatically once the playoffs were determined. If this is my mistake, should i reverse the transactions by non playoff teams?

You should've made it known beforehand that eliminated teams shouldn't make any moves since they no longer matter.

It's too late to make any reversals but you can still put the league on notice so it doesn't happen again.

Well i thought since it says in our settings that "eliminated" teams were locked, that non playoff teams were the ones "eliminated". I googled around and apparently in Yahoo leagues, "eliminated" means "no more matchups". Since our league has a consolation bracket, no one is "eliminated".

I mean i guess thats my fault for not understanding what they meant by "eliminated". But its not like i just decided this week to lock out non playoff teams. IMO a lot of people who looked at our league settings any time during the season would have assumed that non playoff teams were locked.

Anyway, I just locked the non playoff teams. I guess some playoff team is going to get a gift stud WR, if he gets healthy. :dunno:

It's not too late to reverse the moves. Eliminated teams, including those who are in the playoffs and then lose, shouldn't make any moves that could affect the teams still alive in the playoffs. Reverse the move. No one should benefit from a player being dropped that had no business being dropped.

Do your playoffs start this week, week 14? If not, Yahoo does not consider teams eliminated and they can continue to manage (drop/add) as they like. Even if the "real" playoffs are set, everyone still has week 14 to play.

If your playoffs do start week 14, I don't know what to tell ya.

Our playoffs start this week. Apparently the fact that we have a consolation bracket for the 6 non playoff teams means no one was eliminated. I misinterpreted (long time player, first time commissioner) what that meant. I thought eliminated meant not in the playoffs. Then one of the non playoff teams made 4 waiver claims, one of which was dropping Jordy Nelson.

Basically what i did was lock the non playoff teams rosters, and then posted a commissioners note on the website not to claim those four players. Other than Jordy Nelson none of the other three are game changers, but you just never know. After this week and next i will lock out the teams that lose their playoff matchups before the waiver period ends. This wont happen again.. I didnt want to reverse these transactions because i dont think the owner who made the drop/adds did it to be malicious, and technically he didnt break any rules. Also, i had a waiver claim in on one of the players he picked up, and i thought it might seem fishy if i stripped that player off his team and then claimed him myself.
