BeenHereBefore 1,517 Posted September 21, 2023 The date is September 21st, 1973, and it's a Friday. Anyone born today will have the star sign Virgo. Most people have "that Friday feeling" and are looking forward to the weekend. Schools and colleges are starting again, and fall has officially arrived. As a result, temperatures are beginning to cool, and trees are starting to shed their leaves. The earthy smells of autumn have started to fill the air. In America, the song Delta Dawn by Helen Reddy is at the top of the singles charts. Over in the UK, Angel Fingers by Wizzard is the number-one hit song. Richard Nixon is the President of the United States, and the movie The Shanghai Killers is at the top of the box office. Edward Heath is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. On television, people are watching popular shows such as "Columbo", "Marcus Welby, M.D.", "The Brady Bunch", and "Barnaby Jones". In fashion, the hippie look from the 1960s is still popular. Clothing items such as tie dye shirts, bell-bottoms, midi skirts, gauchos and Mexican blouses are being worn by women. Meanwhile, men are wearing dark satin shirts, ethnic-looking tunics, bell bottom jeans, tweed sports jackets and turtlenecks. It's 1973, so radio stations are playing songs from artists such as The Rolling Stones, Tony Orlando & Dawn, Sweet, Elton John, Roberta Flack, Carly Simon, Marvin Gaye and Jim Croce. If you were to travel back to this day, notable figures such as Oskar Schindler would be still alive. People are playing video games such as "Pong" and "Space Race". Children and teenagers are watching television shows such as "JOT the Dot", "Sabrina the Teenage Witch", "The Electric Company", and "Inch High, Private Eye". Children are playing with toys such as Operation, G.I. Joe Adventure Team, Uno (card game), and Kenner SSP Racers.
