Need help with MAJOR keeper dilemma!

Recommended Posts

Here are my options.

1) DeShaun Foster for a 6th round pick. Bottom line is I just don't trust he'll stay healthy.

2) Plaxico Burress for an 8th roudn pick. Giants have a harsh schedule and Plax has attitude problems.

3) Carolina DST for a 10th round pick. They are a top 3 DST in every ranking I see.

4) Willie Parker for an 11th round pick. Great value here, but is he an every week starter?

I've pretty much narrowed it down to Parker and Carolina DST.

Would I be a complete moron if I kept a DST?

Before you flame me, listed to these figures. DST gets big points in my league.

Last year CAR DST averaged 16.7 PPG.

They were the 9th OVERALL scorer in my league! Only behind Alexander, Palmer, LJ, LT, Tiki, BEARS DST, Manning, & Brady.

Meanwhile Willie Parker averaged 11 PPG.

But then there is another kicker. Last year we scored RBs at 1 pt. every 25 rush yards. This year we are changing it to 1 pt. every 10 rush yards. This obviously boosts FWP value significantly.

Then the last thing. I will draft 2nd this year. So I'm guaranteed one of the big 3 RBs and can probably get a decent RB on the wrap around.

This is a tough, competititve 12 team league. What should I do?

Burress, Willie, Foster.

Carolina is probably a coin flip I would take the other opitons definately willie for an 11th round in a 12 person league.... do that quick.

Who gives a chit if he is an every week starter this is your effing 11th round pick christ. Look what you are writing. You are lucky to play a guy 3 times as your 11th round pick.

Parker is by far the best choice. You are getting a guy who is going in round 3 for an 11th round pick. My 2nd choice would be Plax. Manning is poised for a huge year.

next in line would be:

Foster - still an RB, which means he's worth something until he breaks (in week2)

Carolina - at 16.7pts/gm, they're a good value for a 10th rd. pick and i look for them to be just as good (if not better) defensively this year with some injured guys coming back.

Burress - forget this lazy undisciplined bum, he doesn't even want to work out w/ his superstar-to-be QB in the offseason...

best value by far is FWP. i hate plax also but he's putting up numbers.

No reason not to go with FWP here, DEF are inconsistent scorers from year to year, but the Pittsburgh running game is not. For an 11th round pick you can't go wrong with a starting RB.

Please read my keeper question about Boldin, Fitz, and Jordan. Not sure how to link it. Thanks.

Go with the RB's. Though your D is high scoring (is this a CBS league by chance - because mine is like that), what is the relative value of that score (probably not much different between #1 and #10 in your scoring set-up)? Worse case, you have 2 solid starters for 1/2 a year (if Foster follows his injury trend), best case - you get 2 Top 20 RB's AND can still draft another.
