Middle schooler forced to change ‘Trump’ name after years of relentless bullying...

12 December 2018 - 03:13 PM

http://eagnews.org/m...tless-bullying/

The daily torment of an 11-year-old boy at Delawares Talley Middle School has gotten so bad the childs parents changed his last name to thwart his bullies.

He said he hates himself, and he hates his last name, and he feels sad all the time, and he doesnt want to live feeling like that anymore, and as a parent thats scary, the boys mother, Megan Trump, told WPVI.

Joshua Trumps problems started in elementary school, when the 45th president announced his candidacy, but the boys parents thought things might be different in middle school.

He was being ridiculed and bullied for the fact that his last name was Trump, said Bobby Berto, Joshuas father. I pulled him out of school and homeschooled him for a year.

Joshuas parents met with school officials and teachers ahead of the school year to warn them about the boys past problems.

New school, new start, Berto said.

But the parents contend the Brandywine School District has done little to help their son, and the issues have only gotten worse.

They curse at him, they call him an idiot, they call him stupid, Megan Trump said.

I do know the teacher were aware of his last name, and I know in speaking with the student that the teachers do their very best to try not to say his last name, Tally Middle School Principal Mark Mayer told WPVI.

Mayer recently met with Joshuas parents, then launched an investigation that identified five students who were disciplined for bullying, he said.

They were apologetic and they did say they were sorry, Mayer said.

The school agreed to change Joshuas last name on school records to his fathers last name Berto.

Officials are also making it easier for the boy to report future incidents of bullying.

In other places, its not just kids targeting students for their association with the president.

Trump-supporting students were ridiculed by a biology teacher at McNeil High School in Round Rock, Texas in August. Parents told KHOU the teacher professed a hatred for the president before mocking students who disagreed with her perspective.

She said, By the way, I hate Donald Trump with a burning passion and his is a complete ###### to a class full of seniors in high school, said one students mother, who did not want to be identified.

The woman said her son isnt shy about his political views, which prompted the teacher to call her son and his friends a bunch of Trumpies.

She looked over and she said, Oh, it seems like I have a table full of Trumpies over there, the mother said.

Then she continued to call my son Trumpy as opposed to his name. If she had a question, she said Hey, Trumpy, do you have an answer to this, or, What do you think, Trumpy?

The Round Rock school district placed the teacher on leave and launched an investigation after parents filed a formal complaint. The angry teacher was reassigned to administrative duties, and parents said they would prefer if she didnt come back to class, Fox News reports.

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski should be fired shortly...

Mika Brzezinski hurls homophobic slur live on air as she refers to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as a 'wannabe dictators butt boy'

https://www.dailymai...s-butt-boy.html

MSNBC is once again dealing with a network host's homophobic comments after Morning Joe anchor Mika Brzezinski casually tossed off a slur on live television Wednesday morning.

The Morning Joe host was talking about an interview on Fox & Friends earlier in the morning during which Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was evasive when it came to answering questions about how the administration planned to deal with Saudi Arabia in the wake of journalist Jamal Khashoggi's murder.

'I understand that Donald Trump doesnt care. He doesnt care. But why doesnt Mike Pompeo care right now? Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on - is that a patriot speaking?' asked Brzezinski.

'Or a wannabe dictators butt boy?'

At that moment her audio was cut out by MSNBC, but not before she had already uttered the homophobic slur.

Pompeo defended the Trump administration's handling of the killing of Khashoggi on Wednesday, stressing Saudi Arabia's importance as an ally against Iran.

Pompeo repeated his assertion that there was no direct evidence linking Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the October 2 murder of Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, despite a CIA assessment it was likely he ordered the killing.

CIA Director Gina Haspel was briefing leaders of the House of Representatives behind closed doors on Wednesday about the killing.

She has also briefed some US senators.

Brzezinski apologized on social media for her comment after being called out on Twitter.

'I was with you, @morningmika, right up to the butt boy comment. Try toadie or lackey or stool pigeon or ass kisser, or traitor, but maybe dont equate homosexuality with Mike Pompeo carrying water for the murderous regime in Saudi Arabia,' wrote G.E. Anderson.

'Totally agree with you -SUPER BAD choice of words .. I should have said water boy... like for football teams or something like that.. apologize to @SenatorDurbin too! SO SORRY!' responded Brzezinski.

A number of Trump supporters were also quick to attack to host, despite the president's controversial record on LGBT rights.

Donald Trump Jr. liked a tweet criticizing Brzezinski, while US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grannel wrote: 'Outrageous. This is totally unacceptable & deeply disturbing. Sexualizing gay people this way is designed to control them & minimize our worth.'

And Larry O'Connor noted: 'Mika Brzezinski (called Sec State "butt boy") Alec Baldwin (called photographer "c***sucker") Joy Reid (years of homophobic statements on her blog and Twitter) All employees in good standing at @MSNBC and @NBC.'

MSNBC did not respond to a request for comment on the matter, which comes one year after Joy Reid was found to have made a number of homophobic comments in old blog posts.

Reid's troubles began last December, when social media posts and remarks on her blog which contained anti-gay remarks were uncovered online.

She spoke of how 'heterosexual men' found 'homosexual sex' to be 'gross' and claimed that the sight of two men kissing makes most 'straight' people 'cringe.'

Reid released a statement that was more excuse than apology, saying her blog had been 'breached' and these were 'fraudulent posts.'

She later said on her show that she could not prove the hacking, but did not go back on her claim that the FBI was conducting an investigation.

In a shocking twist, Reid had been a guest on Andrea Mitchell's show just a few days prior to the scandal and was asked: 'What do you have to do on social media to get fired from a top rated show on an American broadcast network?'

It is now unclear if Reid was ever telling the truth about the FBI, the hacking claims or her shock at seeing the posts.

MSNBC refused to comment at the time.

Around this same time, the network quietly let go of openly gay anchor Thomas Roberts.

Global warming is causing more snow to fall on Antarctica and has slowed rising sea levels

11 December 2018 - 07:55 AM

https://www.dailymai...Antarctica.html

Global warming is causing more snow to fall over Antarctica and it is stunting the surge of rising sea levels.

Scientists have discovered that the increased amount of snow on Antarctica has helped offset rates of twentieth-century global sea-level rise by up to a third.

Since the start of the 20th century the snow on the frozen continent and the Antarctic ice Sheet have played a pivotal role in governing sea level change.

The delicate balance between ice sheets melting and increased snowfall has a major part to play on sea levels around the world.

The authors of the research caution that this phenomenon is merely slowing sea level rise - not negating it completely.

The findings have been published in the journal Nature Climate Change and emphasise the role of the ice sheet on global sea levels, the researchers claim.

Global sea levels are rising as a result of warmer sea waters.

Sea levels vary dramatically around the world due to the distribution of warm water around the world.

As warm water expands to fill more space than cold water it has a dramatic effect on sea level rise in some areas based on currents and wind.

Uneven sea level rise is also influenced by ice sheets, which lose mass as they melt.

However, sea level is also affected by changes in snowfall, which impacts the volume of frozen water that is 'stored' in glaciated regions such as Antarctica.

Brooke Medley and Elizabeth Thomas from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, used ice-core records to determine snow accumulation across Antarctica from 19012000.

They found an overall increase in sea level rise and say it is as a direct result of warming temperatures that allow the atmosphere to hold more moisture.

The authors suggest that this increase in snow has offset approximately 10 mm of global sea-level rise since 1901.

Previous research has found that climate change is causing sea levels to rise unevenly around the world.

They also revealed the encroaching sea levels of the last 25 years are 'human-caused' and will be devastating if they continue to rise.

Experts predict that regions with rapidly rising sea levels, including the Eastern Seaboard of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico, can expect the trend to continue as the climate warms.

'By knowing that climate change is playing a role in creating these regional patterns, we can be more confident that these same patterns may linger or even intensify in the future if climate change continues unabated,' Dr Fasullo at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) said.

'With sea levels projected to rise a couple of feet or more this century on average, information about expected regional differences could be critical for coastal communities as they prepare.'

Dr Fasullo and Dr Steve Nerem at the University of Colorado Boulder, both members of the NASA Sea Level Change Team, analysed satellite data which measured sea surface heights stretching back to 1993.

Areas near Antarctica and the West Coast of the US have lower-than-average sea level rise but some, including the US's East Coast and the Philippines and Indonesia, are suffering more.

Sea level varies according to region due to the thermodynamics of the water in the oceans.
