Patriots - Quick Observations

• NE defense

  can make plays: sacks, int's, fumbles

  but they still don't stop the run well - by design? or bc front isn't stout? not sure.

  Chandler Jones is finally emerging as a dominant defensive player with Hightower as pass rush compliment

  Revis is good, but still not sure he's the GOD NE expected.

   

• Offensive Line is shaky

  NE has to rely on short drops and play-action to help O-line

• No deep threats

  a combination of Oline can't block long enough, no deep WR, and Brady getting older = no deep balls

• Ridley / Vereen will share work. Both look good at their roles (good, not GREAT)

• Edelman is the only reliable WR.

  Gronk still isn't 100%, they are working him in slowly (limited snaps)

  Amendola is just a non-factor, seems healthy but no impact

  Dobson/Thompkins just haven't been consistent. Dobson is the best hope for a deep threat

• NE's defense won the game vs. MIN today. NE offense had its struggles and settled for FGs - game would have been even more lopsided in NE O made some plays.

• Lots of penalties on NE in first 2 games. Unusual to see.
