CookieG 4 Posted October 10, 2006 I am trying to get more production out've the QB spot. I need TDs. Long ones are better, but 2 a week would have me clicking my heels. I currently have a Favre/Penington platoon, which may be okay -- but maybe. not. There are a bunch of mediocre lookinf candidates on our ww and without getting too into schedules or specific help stuff.. just wondered if i could grab a touch of FB on them. Favre is absolutely dropable.. but it does cost me some trans. cash. i'm not married to anything at this point. David Carr - interests me, but plays Dallas on Favre's Bye week. 'Pundits" seem to like his season thus far. Matt Lineart - obviously intriguing.. The Fitz injury gives me a bit of pause -- who knows what he does when they scheme to shut him down? Alex Smith - Football Scooter and others have said some postitve things.. he looked good last week, but that was OAK.. His schedule has a few gimme's but plays SEA twice, CHI, Denver week 17 and has a few other landmines.. with SD up next and a BYE for week 7, i won't need to move on him for a couple weeks.. which is good. Jake Plummer - He was dropped a few weeks ago -- luv their D, but he's more a name than anything else Inconsistent, doesn't need to pass a lot and frankly, looks like freakin' Warren Beatty trying to play football in Heaven Can Wait to me, which is not a good thing. Joey Harrington - Next.. unless someone can make a compelling argument that he's a good sleeper and i'm being impulsive here.. He may help Chambers or not.. i don't see a lot of 2 TD potential from this guy. Brunell, B. Johnson, Losman - Buehler, Buehler, Buehler, Frye - oh Frye's already gone.. not feelin' any of these stiffs.. any reason to doubt that intuition? Gradkowski - Just mentioned him beacause he looks like a good future prospect -- he's really poised and threw really well from what i saw in last week's games -- but i can't seriously consider a TB QB and a rookie nonethless. Thanks for any and all opinions/comments. I'll prob. slum it with #4 and one other guy in a platoon -- See lineup below.. My trading depth is slim. Deals for guys like Brees, Bulger, Palmer are prob. not likely.. but i may be able to do it. I'm also at my roster max. for anything but an extra D/ST -- so i'd have to drop a QB or RB to add another QB. QB - Favre. Pennington RB - Portis, Maroney, T. Jones, C. Benson, L. Betts WR - Wayne. Housh, Chamber, Colston K - Akers, Dawson D/ST - Denver
Triumph 0 Posted October 10, 2006 I would go with Alex Smith or Plummer. Its amazinng they are both still available. Smith is a Smart Pocket passer and has only had one bad week. He will be consistant. Plummer can be a Train Wreck but he has the experience. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=242589
freewaydog 0 Posted October 10, 2006 i think your fine with penington. the jets have a pretty good schedule coming up. i would drop favre for lineart though http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=242619
CookieG 4 Posted October 10, 2006 Bear in mind that my league is a td league -- i like both penny & favre for garbage TDs than plummer.. with his D, he's a game mgr. at this point.. doncha think? He was dropped early.. that's why he's avail. Smith is intriguing.. but his schedule is not easy for scoring going forward.. i'll look at his platoon with either of the guys i have.. whaddya think of Lineart? Thanks for the comments.. lv_2_hack 0 Posted October 10, 2006 I like smith, and with SF's problems of scoring at the goaline, it's going to give smith more opportunities to score. SF got stuffed twice against oakland on 4-1, so Nolan might keep it in smith's hands a little more. davebg 0 Posted October 10, 2006 I like Carr. He's got two solid WRs that he has chemistry with. Sure, it's a tough matchup vs. DAL, but when your team has no shot at the playoffs, you need something to get you up for a game or two. The battle for Texas might just do the trick. Lord_Nelson 0 Posted October 10, 2006 I like the prospects of Gradkowski. He should continue to do well this year.. Carr would also be a solid choice.. Good luck!
CookieG 4 Posted October 10, 2006 Ugh.. thanks guys.. i'm so nearsighted on this and i'm not getting a consensus.. I think i have to play matchups with 2nd tier guys. Carr & Lineart do have talent.. rookies can be scary in the case of ARIZ though. I have a feeling that something obvious will present itself in the QB ww dept. I may just stand pat for a couple weeks and see what evolves. The only one i see scooped up is Lineart based on all the ARIZ WR hype.
