Trade help

Recommended Posts

So, I've got a bit of a dilemna in Week 8, where my two main RBs Edgerrin James and Willis McGahee both have a bye, and rather than scramble and try to patch up the hole with shitty waiver pickups, I figure I'd try to get a trade going beforehand. Here's what I proposed:

Willis McGahee and Vincent Jackson

for

Brandon Jacobs and Donald Driver.

The guy I'd be trading with would get a decent upgrade at the RB position and only a slight drop at the WR position -- Jackson is only 7 FPts behind Driver and the SD offense is picking things up. The guy also has Chad Johnson, but I don't think he'd let him go.

Do you think I should pull the trigger on this? Or should I just stay pat and tough it out for that one week? Keep in mind that my QB and kicker wil also be on the bye and I'll have enough trouble trying to fix that problem. Help me out and I'll try to help you out. Thanks.

I don't know. To me McGahee is more valuable than Jacobs. I think Ward will stay in the picture as all he's done is produce, so how do you sit him unless he's hurt? Jacobs probably will get the short yards, the TDs, he'll lose carries to Ward at least to a small extent (probably 70-30 split my guess from reading and such) to keep both healthy. McGahee could be vultured by Musa, of course. Maybe check the Strength of Schedule and see which has a better stretch run. As for WRs, I'd stick with Driver over Jackson even if the numbers are close. You have to think GB will sling it more than SD.

Thanks for mine.

McGahee is definitely more valuable, but again, I have the bye week issue to consider. Also, McGahee has been getting the yards and receptions, but hasn't been scoring TDs, which are worth 6pts in my league. Is the one bye week enough of an issue to do the trade? That's the dilemna I'm faced with.

BTW, I'm the one with Jackson. I wish I had Driver (I've had him the previous two seasons). Jackson has been killing me with his inconsistency.

One thing to keep in mind . . . it can be good to have 1 bad bye week and take the loss rather than spreading them out during the course of year. If that loss doesn't hurt your chances for the playoffs.

+ McGahee has been good, and getting better.

Do it Driver > Jackson

McGahee 5 games 0 td's, that hurts i don't care how many yard you get

Thats a pretty fair trade. The only thing I'd be concerned about is how the carries will shake out between Jacobs & Ward. I think Ward has earned himself a few carries a game now. Plus, the Giants probably are wary of letting Jacobs carry the full load for now.

Thanks for the help with mine.

My bad.

I still stay stick with McGahee and see if you can't replace Jackson via a different trade or even WW. WRs aren't too hard to pickup generally, compared to RBs, esp. this year.

Thanks for mine.

I think it fair and would offer it, I think Jacobs will have better numbers the rest of the year than McGahee, Baltimore offecnse is struggluing and cant score, mat get down and have to pass. Jacobs will get plenty of Opp. for the TD. The chargers may be back on track and go back to Running it with LT the ntire game leaving little reception chance for jackson. Make the offer, see if he takes it, and smile if he does

That is a pretty fair trade.

I like McGahee better though because he is the man in Batlimore. Ward is going to steal carries from Jacobs.

If you can somehow get through the Bye week, you'll be fine. What's your record?

My record is 5-0. Silly to be worried about one week, I know, but I want to make sure I have the best chance to go to the playoffs. Plus, my team has benefitted more from the bad luck of others than the overall strength of its players.

I may just ride the bye week and let the chips fall where they may. But please, don't stop with the advice. Thanks to one and all.

Thanks for helping me out!!

I think that is a pretty fair trade. The only down side on your end would be that we dont exactly know what the split between Jacobs and Ward is going to be yet. If this past week is any indication, Jacobs is going to be the guy and I like the NYG offense alot more than the Ravens. As for Jackson and Driver they are basically a wash in my mind so I say go for it.

I like McGahee's schedule but I would pull the trigger on that trade in a heartbeat. I think Jacobs will have similar stats to McGahee but Driver is in another class than Jackson.
