Dakkon79 0 Posted November 2, 2007 Alright, pretty simply question, another owner has offered me Frank Gore for Laurence Maroney. I think Maroney has potential to be great in that offense and shows flashes of greatness, but he simply isn't geting the ball enough. Now Frank Gore is on the worst offense, but I think Nolan said he was going to feed the ball more to him. Should I pull the trigger on this trade??? Keep in Mind this is a 2 player keeper league, and I probably would not keep Gore next year due to my roster. See my roster below. Point System: QB: 3points per TD, 1point per 25yards throwing RB: 4points per TD, 1point per 10yards rushing WR: 5points per TD, 1 point per 10yards receiving No points for receptions Current Roster: QB: Peyton Manning RB: Steven Jackson, Laurence Maroney, Brian Leonard, Selvin Young, Ryan Grant, Michael Bennett WR: Plaxico Burress, Larry Fitzgerald, Hines Ward, James Jones TE: Antonio Gates K: Stephen G. D: Packers Leave a link and I'll answer yours!!!
Guest ramrock11 Posted November 2, 2007 I would keep maroney, it gets cold in NE and I think they will get maroney his carries very soon
Dakkon79 0 Posted November 2, 2007 Any more thoughts???
TX Steel 0 Posted November 2, 2007 If you traded for Gore you'd have SJax and Gore--two banged-up RBs with suspect o-lines. I'd keep Maroney. I have him and have been frustrated but I think he's beginning to get involved more. He's got the weapons around him so he won't get worn down and he has big upside. Here's mine: http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=299780
Dabears33 0 Posted November 2, 2007 I think i would make the move. There are too many weapons in NE. Too many Vultures(Brady, Evans, Vrabel, Moss). There are questions weather Morris will come back or not but you could add him to the vulture list. It is a frustrating situation in which i am sure you are aware of. San Fran has a bad offense but like you said I think they are going to start to feed Gore the ball. Also Maroney has a bye coming and Gore has already had his. Gore has a decent schedule coming up @ Atl, @ SEA, vs STL, @ ARI, @ CAR. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=299786
whitey2876 0 Posted November 2, 2007 I have concerns with both. But I have to buy the hype that Maroney is going to get more as the weather changes. Maroney seems healthy now and Gore just scares me being on the offenxe that he is among other things. I say stick it out with Maroney. This week should be a tell of what is to come with him. Thanks for mine!

Thanks for mine! N England might give him the ball when the weather gets worse, see if you can get something else with the trade, like a wr or something...if not, go with your gut...SF offense sucks...i'd keep Maroney for the playoffs http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=299788
quincyxg 0 Posted November 2, 2007 About a week or so ago I remeber reading a lot about buying low and Gore specifically. The general consensus is that A. Smith, D. Jackson, and V. Davis were all getting healthy and would take some of the pressure off of Gore. Can't argue with that logic. I had Maroney and traded him away. Was sick and tired of not knowing what his status was. I feel like NE has had so much success passing that they won't try and fix what isn't broken. Plus, who the heck knows if Maroney will play much comes fantasy football playoffs, weeks 14 thru 16 typically. NE could be reesting a lot of players. I bet SF won;t be doing that. Help me out please, http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=299813
drewznot 0 Posted November 2, 2007 I'd keep Maroney because of the threat of Brady getting hit because coach Belicheat is an idiot by running up the score in the forth quarter and by going for 2 4th down conversions in the 4th qrtr against WASH. After Brady is hurt all they will do is RUN NE SUCKS BUTT FLUFF! and so does Belicheat mine too please
ullloveit 0 Posted November 2, 2007 I would do it because I think Gore is a much better player and will be the 49er's offense. I also think that the Pats will run by RBBC. Mine please http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=299829
extrmmxer 2 Posted November 2, 2007 I would go with Gore. Smith is back at QB and the offense should get better. That will payoff for Gore. Plus, I think the 49ers are going to use Gore more. Maroney is too iffy. There's no doubt he could be a stud but N.E. chooses not to use him. Plus, you'll have RBBC when Morris is back.
texholdem24 0 Posted November 2, 2007 That's a tough call. Something tells me Maroney is going to start coming on here towards the end of the season. The Pats have softened every D line in the league, preparing for the run. Gore is awesome (I'm a Niners fan) but the team is AWFUL. He'll never see many carries in an offense that can't get a first down. Keep Maroney!
tallkris3 0 Posted November 2, 2007 If you don't have the backups to Maroney on your roster I make this move for sure. Gore has a cake walk schedule in the playoffs. It may take him a week to get healthy but come those final few weeks you'll be happy you made this trade. Not to mention V. Davis is coming back and a good TE that can stretch the field pulls an extra linebacker their way which opens up alot more room for a RB. (Look at most of the successfull runners in this game, they have good TEs) Maroney has a much tougher schedule and alot more weapons to contend with, a tougher playoff schedule, and if the pats keep blowing people out Faulk/Morris will end up with more touches then Maroney. Do you wanna start Morris over Maroney and hope the pats blow a team out? I know I wouldn't.
fatty98 1 Posted November 2, 2007 I'd do this. Gore is a red zone threat and Maroney hasn't proven that yet. (the pats love to throw inside the 5 way too much) Both are banged up so injury concerns cancel each other out, in my mind. Here's mine: http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=299836
k2208 0 Posted November 2, 2007 I would do this trade. Maroney isnt exactly granite either so we are talking about 3 injury prone backs, and I think Gore could turn it around. see mine http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=299846
