Journeymen 0 Posted November 9, 2007 I'm currently in 5th place in a 12 team league. 4 teams make the playoffs which start week 13. I'm in search of a solid, reliable RB2 for my roster (18 player): Start QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, K, DST---ppr, .1 per rush/rec yard, 6pt pass td, .04 per passing yard QB Peyton* RB Willie Parker* Justin Fargas* Warrick Dunn Thomas Jones Chester Taylor Adrian Peterson (the OTHER one) WR Anquan Boldin* Torry Holt* Donald Driver* Marvin Harrison Muhsin Muhammed Patrick Crayton Vince Jackson Mark Clayton TE Shockey K Vinatieri DST Seattle Some players who might be available (targeting some #1s to complement Parker as well) Marshawn Lynch Marion Barber Brandon Jacobs The Jacobs owner has told me he wants a producing receiver (he has Fitz/Chambers/McDonald starting right now) for Jacobs (who backs up LT/Portis). Now, if I knew Harrison was going to play 4 quarters, I'd have an easy deal, but I don't so it makes me iffy as far as my WR3. Barber was offered to me straight up for Willie Parker, and I haven't heard anything back from the Lynch owner as far as a potential deal, but he's in last, so I don't know why he'd make a deal anyway. The ironic thing is that at various points, I'd had each of those RBs but in the course of my 13 trade season, they've become scattered around. (Shockey's the only original drafted player on my roster) Do I stand pat, and rotate Dunn/Fargas/Jones at RB2 and sit on my WR depth, especially with Harrison perhaps soon to maybe almost come back as a game time decision to perhaps play a limited number of snaps? And also, who might you try to target? And to further complicate things, we use a hybrid head to head point system where a win gets you 2 pts in the standings, the top 4 scorers get 2 pts in the standings, the next tier of 4 get 1 point in the standings, and the bottom scoring tier gets 0 points. I'm at 18 standings points, 4th has 20. Thanks, if you sifted through all of that...
chrisfab 0 Posted November 9, 2007 That is a lot to sift thru heheh. However, I would lean towards one of your WRs for Jacobs. If you start 3 WRS AND its a ppr league, it shouldn't be too hard to find someone to start every week to just give you some points. However reliable starting RBs are a little more valuable. I think Jacobs is going to have a monster stretch as the giants try not to self destruct again during the 2nd half of the season. I would also consider FWP for MB3 only because I don't see Willie getting that many balls thrown to him as Barber, and FWP seems to get one "crack" at a TD before they bring in Davenport. But that is a coin toss. We do a .5ppr and I have FWP and wouldnt' trade him for MB3....but if its 1ppr, I might. Thanks for mine!!
Cmoney22 0 Posted November 9, 2007 Well im not so good at trades, but since you helped my Ill give it a try. I think I would stand pat with your depth at WR. I havent heard much about Marv, but I just dont see it. he has been gone for a long time and hasnt played a complete game since one of the first couple of weeks. Towards the end of the season, depending on your league playoffs, they may rest him even more for the playoffs. But if you feel him coming up or just putting a fillin every week for a WR, then I could see a trade for Marshawn or Jacobs. I wouldnt trade FWP for Barber straight up, Parker just gets the ball too much and should keep that trend up, and hopefully score some TD's! If you could get one of those backs with FWP I think you could get higher points per week with that awkward scoring. After all of that I would prob stand pat and hope for the best and that your WR core starts to pick it up. GL I hope this helps...
joellarocca 0 Posted November 10, 2007 Sit tight. Fargas will most likely be fine as a RB2.
chrisfab 0 Posted November 10, 2007 after thinking about it more, yah stay with Fargas and FWP. Have you seen Faras run?? He is a madman!!
Journeymen 0 Posted November 10, 2007 Thanks for the input guys. Most of the owners in my league seem to be MIA so it may be a moot point as to if a deadline trade gets made or not. I've got a deal in that would net me Jacobs and Hilliard for Driver and Dunn. Surprisingly, in our scoring, Hilliard and Driver are fairly equal, and Dunn outscores Jacobs, but the avg ppg favors my side. Also, that would have me starting Crayton this week vs. the Giants. Looking at his breakdown, all but 3 of his catches this year have come on turf. The Meadowlands? Artificial surface. I think I'd still start Fargas vs. CHI though, this week. Maybe I'll pitch a secondary offer of Crayton and TJones for Jacobs, specifically noting the Crayton on turf factor. Update, because I know everyone really cared to know... Traded Driver/Dunn for Hilliard/Jacobs...still felt uncertain about that #3...really wanted a "name" kind of guy, or someone reliable, a regular target who would at worst do 5/50 or something. So I pitched an offer (I thought I was done with trading...not until the deadline hit though) with 20 minutes to go before the deadline, Thomas Jones and Muhsin Muhammed for Bobby Engram. Luckily, the owner got home from work right about that time, and accepted it. So I get Holt/Boldin/Engram while I wait on Harrison, and can trot out FWP and Jacobs unless a solid matchup jumps out at RB. Feels pretty good.
