With the #1 Pick...

Recommended Posts

So I thought I would be taking Chris Johnson w/ the #1 overall pick but decided to check the settings to make sure what the scoring was. I knew it was PPR but it also has PATD worth 6 pts.

We start: QB, RB, WR, RB/WR, TE, K, D

Do I take Brees, Manning or Rodgers now instead?

Or do I take CJ and hope for maybe a Schaub @ 2.12 & a solid WR @ 3.1?

Oh boy that is a tough one. I still think that you take a RB at #1 and hope that you get a Schaub or Romo at the back end of RD2 beginning of RD3. If you have your eyes set on Chris Johnson as your top PPR RB, then pull the trigger. I think that Rice will finish ahead of Johnson by a very small margin, but I don't think you can take Rice over Johnson. RD 2 you should be able to get a pretty good WR and RD3 should be a great spot for Schaub or Romo. If QB's go faster than you expect, then you can still make up for it with great values on WR's and RB's later while taking a chance on lower end QB's like Kolb, Eli, Matt Ryan etc... Which you should still be ok IMO.

LOL - that was funny! We already answered each others. Thanks for the great insight.

I would pick one of the Quarter Backs. QB's can get you the most points, and if you don't get Johnson it's not the end of the world. There are plenty of other good Running Backs. Also, it's not always wise to base your draft on hope, so i would go with one of the QB's. If you are able to, get Manning. If he's been drafted, your other two options - Brees and Rodgers - are really good, too.

It's hard to tell anyone to pass on Johnson. But you have more stability with the QB's, you've seen them do it time and time again. The only problem is, Stud RB's run out quicker than Stud QB's.

I think you still go with Johnson. You can still end up with a good QB. I think the drop off is to steep with RB's, and you can't pass up on CJ.
