I'm glad I did start Maye, CJ Stroud was awful today

SMF Discussion: Patriots at Jaguars (London) - Week 7
polecatt replied to Mike FF Today's topic in FFToday Board
Drake Maye, 4 TD passes in 4 qtrs The rest of the team 2 TD passes in 5 games... -
I think more than anything they just have a bunch of raw, young talent at OL and they're kind of mix and matching what they have vs what they need. More than anything they just need some experience at the pro level and learn to work together as a unit. They will definitely have to keep drafting some OL though. Zack Martin isn't gonna be around much longer and Steele isn't irreplaceable. I think that's just something every team should do though, is regularly draft OL.
-
That's a big part of the issue with the OL, they're starting a bunch of young guys and they're playing out of the position they're normally used to. The right side of the line, with Martin, as good as Guard as there has been in the NFL for the past decade, and Steele at RT, who is a solid veteran. Then on the left, you have a rookie at LT who switched from RT, and at LG, You have Tyler Smith, who has played 2 seasons but has shifted from LT to LG, and at C Cooper Beebe, another rookie, who switched from Guard. So they're quite a bit of a work in progress, but all are very talented.

We get big bonus pts for long TD plays and he throws a beautiful deep ball. I think Jax is a team he can have a big game against, they're ranked 32nd against QBs in my league. I agree though, he's not somebody to start against a good D
-
Call me crazy, but I just picked up Drake Maye and plan to start him this week vs the Jags... I have CJ Stroud but I just like that match up better
-
The thing is, he's still basically the same QB he was as a rookie. He's not really improved that much. Maybe he's a little bit more polished, but you just don't see the improvement you would hope for in a QB that's been a starter for nearly a decade. As a 4th round draft pick, that unexpectedly got thrust into the starting role from day one, he was exceptional but now, he's just a slightly above average QB. The OL has usually been one of the best in the NFL, but there have been a few times when it was shaky, and he struggled. Same thing with the WRs. That's why they traded for Amari Cooper in the middle of the season a while back.
-
That's an excellent description of him as a player. Good but not great. He doesn't have any big strengths or weaknesses as a QB, he's decent all around the board, but not great anywhere. The one thing though, he doesn't seem to handle pressure well at all. That's not good for a franchise QB.
-
I"m a Cowboys fan, yes it would be... He has a 5-1 record as a starter in his career. When they went 12-5 and sent Tom Brady into retirement in 2022, he went 4-1 as a starter after Dak was injured in the season opening loss to Tampa Bay. Everyone thought the season was over but Cooper Rush saved it.
-
Absolutely! At a buck especially
-
I've not been this sad about a fantasy football injury in years! In my league where we get 15 pts for TDs over 50 yards, and 12 pts for TDs over 40 yards, and 12 pts for return TDs, this guy was a super hero
-
There's a small number but it's mostly the older guys like Henry, Kamara, and Barkley. The thing is, the younger RBs aren't really breaking out the way they used to. Bijan and Breece were supposed to be super studs and they're basically flex play. Give it another 2-3 seasons or so...
-
I could see RB/WR being a hybrid position down the road... Deebo Samuel is a pioneer
-
And quite possibly, the last ever
-
Yes, a rookie stud WR like that, he's as valuable as they come.
-
One 2000 yard season is an incredible feat, but two would be amazing, even if one comes in a 17 game season
-
If you seriously think that move would put you over the top and will win you the championship this season, then go for it. If it's just a move to hope it works out, no. In dynasty, I pretty much never make a big roster move with just the current season in mind, always the 2-3 seasons or so. That has always served me well. It gives a bit more mental clarity on the picture other than just thinking about the next few games. I don't think Mahomes is gonna have a big fantasy season. Tyreek has QB issues, plus you have Waddle. I personally would just ride it out with Drake Maye right now. Shaheed being injured means he should be cheaper next season, Leggette, similar situation. Both should be a bargain next season and both should be getting better as players. If those guys pan out, it would give you two good, young WRs and a good, young QB for a bargain.
-
Pick up Drake Maye... Dynasty is all about youth
-
I would not trade Rashid Shaheed in a dynasty league for a QB, especially at $1
-
Well, just like Jerry, he would likely need a bit of help Any how, the Cowboys were a stud fantasy D/ST last season, and this season they're one of the worst. The players haven't really changed much, if anything they've improved because Trevon Diggs, major ballhawk, is back too.
-
I don't think so because he had the same issue at times in Dallas. I think he'll be better on the Bills, but we've seen him for several years, he's played with several QBs and his production has always been quite streaky. He can have a big game with the best of them but most weeks he's pretty mediocre
-
The difference though, the Vikings don't have the NFL version of Joe Biden signing their checks

DangeRuss in consideration to start over Justin Fields week 7
polecatt replied to nobody's topic in FFToday Board
This is stupid. Fields has played pretty well for them. Russell Wilson isn't the future, he's not even the present... -
He started off the season with some promise, but he's tailing off rapidly, just one catch in each of the last two games. Maybe Jameis Winston gets the start soon and saves him, but I kind of doubt it. I wouldn't roster him at this time
