Those of you who've drafted already, what were the biggest surprises?
polecatt replied to DaBeerz's topic in FFToday Board
It kind of defeats the purpose of going no RB if you're just going to draft all WRs instead. If you want to make that work you have to get the best QB and TE too, or close to it. I know you didn't draft a QB early -
Colts name rookie QB Richardson as starter for '23
polecatt replied to Ray_T's topic in FFToday Board
Yeah, at least let him play through preseason before making a final call, that way if you have to go back on it, you don't give the impression he's getting benched. They must have seen something they liked in the first game though -

For a division 2 school lol At least Richardson played in the SEC. In any case, they're both very green and it's quite evident with Lance going into his 3rd season. I was thinking maybe if you get Richardson in there early, he can get off to a faster start. If so hopefully by year 3, he's at least a viable starter with potential. -
Update: Joe Mixon, Bengals Agree on Restructured Contract

I definitely don't agree with any of that Everything in his business is public perception. -

I get all of that, and you're not wrong, but he can only go to that well so many times. He's already taken a bit of heat when he suspended Ezekiel Elliott after charges were dropped against him. If he does that too many times, the players will start to hate him even more and it will turn into a social issue he's not gonna like. -

Can't be any greener than Trey Lance, but the only way to change that is to play -

They may as well make him the starter. He's obviously a bit green, but he's still the best QB they have. They're not gonna get anything out of starting Gardner Minshew. He is an excellent back up though. I'm sure there will be growing pains, but it's not like they're gonna make a Super Bowl run this season either way. -

Suspending players who get found not guilty in a court of law is a great way to tarnish the NFL's image -

That's the case I just posted about where he was found not guilty. Now, Goodell can always decide he knows more than the courts and the jury, wouldn't be the first time... -

Bengals' Joe Mixon found not guilty of aggravated menacing https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38208743/bengals-joe-mixon-found-not-guilty-aggravated-menacing -
I would keep the top 3 guys, Tyreek, Burrow, and Higgins, along with Lockett. That gives you a starting QB and two starting WRs, plus some WR depth. You can then focus on RBs in the draft

Walker

Most likely I would take Jefferson in PPR. 80% If not him then it would probably be CMC. 20%

Bill Belichick is a Facade. Not a good coach!
polecatt replied to justforbeer's topic in FFToday Board
This argument is always ridiculous. No coach really wins much without HOF talent. Sure you can probably find an exception here or there where a coach does a superb job and leads a mediocre team to greatness, but it's few and far between. All the great coaches, who won multiple rings, led dynasties, etc. had great talent on the teams they coached. You could say the same thing about Phil Jackson in the NBA. When he had Michael Jordan, Shaquille O"Neal, and Kobe Bryant, he was a great coach! When he was on the Knicks, not so much... That doesn't take away from them being a great coach. It takes great players to win. There's been plenty of coaches with great talent who still didn't win. That's a bad coach, not a coach who wins with talent. -
Etiene. He's just better
-
Barkley. He's just a more complete RB. He has more upside
-
Maybe about Tony Romo level? If he had been healthy that is, something along those lines. I think Pennington had the highest completion % in NFL history when he retired. That's about it, but still, pretty impressive. I think go to to the Hall, he would have had to win a Super Bowl or two. I don't see that on the Jets. I don't think he was quite good enough to lead them to one without a great deal of help. I think if Romo had won a ring, there's a fair chance he would make the HOF.

I think he would have been an excellent QB, HOF may be a stretch but I guess it's possible. Either way though, he's not close to Brady

Ezekiel Elliott Expected to Sign with New England
polecatt replied to Mike FF Today's topic in FFToday Board
He's mostly gonna do the most devastating thing to a feature back that can be done, vulture TDs... On the flipside, Zeke has all the makings of an excellent PPR goal line RB. He's there to pass block too, and he is good at catching dumpoff passes. So he could be an excellent RB to stash on the bench for depth or a flex option -
I know it's just one preseason game, but he looked excellent! He's not gonna take over for Tony Pollard or anything, but he could carve out a nice little role in the Cowboys offense. How much value does he have for fantasy purposes this season and beyond?
-
I tend to favor kickers who play mostly in good weather and domes. That would be Younghoe Koo from that group
-
Tom Brady was a 6th round pick, not even a real 6th round pick, but a compensation pick at the end of the round. The supposedly much more talented 1st round QB of that draft, Chad Pennington...
-
I would say they're probably about even. Given the choice I would probably take Watson again. I know Ayiuk's numbers overall look pretty decent. If you break them down though, it's not quite as good as it looks. He had some decent games, but Watson had better. Both have questionable QB situations, so there's a bit of risk involved with both.
-
It would help I guess, but still, not crazy about a guy coming off a torn ACL who didn't do anything the games he did play. Then you pair that with a 6 game suspension. Not a good start to his career. Maybe it gets better, but the odds aren't looking good. I know Watson had his struggles last season too, but he had some monster games as well. He had three 100 yd games, plus two multi TD games, 7 overall. He finished the season strong. I would say he's head and shoulders above Williams at this point.
