I don’t disagree with anything you’re saying here. What I wanted from the LP under the 2016 circumstances was to put all their resources behind a nationally recognizable, viable candidate so they could enter the mainstream conversation.

The LP position on immigration is that the legal immigration process needs to be “fair, reasonable and accessible.” Not wide open and undocumented. Free choice does not mean there is a single Libertarian opinion on abortion. Edit to ask: are you saying the libertarians I knew never understood libertarians or that the LP didn’t go all-in for 2016 because the LP never understood libertarianism?

After supporting the party my whole life, I bailed on them after 2016. Looking at an election featuring the 2 most unlikable candidates in history, every libertarian I knew wanted the party to go all in and gain a real foothold with voters. They punted. I had to walk away. It’s not a serious party.

These comments here get close to almost touching on feelings that I have. In the Bible, Jesus is quoted as saying (and I’m paraphrasing to get out of ancient syntax) “I’m here right now revealing God and doing miracles so that you will believe.” OK, so hurrah for people 2000 years ago. Why do people today not get the same grace? Us, we’re supposed to just rely on what people 2000 years ago said they saw or experienced. Sure, seems realistic to expect that.
