https://deadline.com/2025/08/rambo-prequel-movie-noah-centineo-1236483104/ Following word this past spring that a package was coming together for a Rambo prequel, Millennium Media looks to have its man as sources tell Deadline that Noah Centineo is attached to star in John Rambo. Sisu director Jalmari Helander is set to direct from a screenplay by writing duo Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Sources say the plan is to shoot top of 2026 in Thailand. Insiders also add that while no deals are in place, Lionsgate is the front-runner to land the package. The studio has released the past two Rambo pics and also has a relationship with Helander having worked with him on Sisu. The film’s plot is under wraps, but it will be the origin story of a young John Rambo during the Vietnam War. One of the most iconic action heroes in U.S. cinema, the character was created by David Morell in his novel First Blood. The original 1982 film saw saw Sylvester Stallone play the veteran Green Beret, who is forced by a cruel sheriff and his deputies to flee into the mountains and wage an escalating one-man war against his pursuers. The five movies in the franchise have generated more than $800 million worldwide; the most recent, 2019’s Rambo: Last Blood, produced by Millennium and Sly’s Balboa, made $92M at the box office. As for Stallone, when Deadline first reported on the package, insiders told Deadline he was aware of the project but was not involved, and as of today that remains the same. Sources now say that Stallone has been alerted to Centineo’s attachment. Producers on the latest installment are Kevin King-Templeton on behalf of Templeton Media, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger and Avi Lerner. Executive producers include Trevor Short and Bonfire Legends’ Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk. As for Centineo, his star has been on the rise after breakout roles in the Netflix hit series To All the Boys I Loved Before and The Recruit, but this is sort of role that could launch a young star onto the A-list. Up next, he will star as Ken Masters in Legendary’s live-action adaptation of Street Fighter, starring opposite Jason Momoa and Andrew Koji. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film is slated for release in 2026. Most recently, Centineo appeared in A24’s Warfare from Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, as well as in Oscar Boyson’s directorial debut Our Hero, Balthazar, which he also produced under his Arkhum banner. The latter premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

That makes sense, but that just doesn't seem logical... I guess the days of "if you are fan of one team, you don't like anyone else"... But thanks for the information, it just seems weird...
-
That wasn't targeted at you, that was at cmh's son... I could see having a favorite AL and NL team before interleague play began and the universal DH, but now, you can't... That is like cmh liking the Chiefs in the AFC and the Packers in the NFC because his son is in Wisconsin now...

Jumping on the bandwagon, eh?

US deficit grows to $291 billion in July despite tariff revenue surge...
posty posted a topic in The Geek Club
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/ar-AA1KoBtx (Reuters) -The U.S. government's budget deficit grew nearly 20% in July to $291 billion despite a nearly $21 billion jump in customs duty collections from President Donald Trump's tariffs, with outlays growing faster than receipts, the Treasury Department said on Tuesday. The deficit for July was up 19%, or $47 billion, from July 2024. Receipts for the month grew 2%, or $8 billion, to $338 billion, while outlays jumped 10%, or $56 billion, to $630 billion, a record high for the month. The month of July this year had fewer business days than last year, so the Treasury Department said that adjusting for the difference would have increased receipts by about $20 billion, resulting in a deficit of about $271 billion. Net customs receipts in July grew to about $27.7 billion from about $7.1 billion in the year-earlier period due to higher tariff rates imposed by Trump, a Treasury official said. These collections were largely in line with the increase in June customs receipts after steady growth since April. Trump has touted the billions of dollars flowing into U.S. coffers from his tariffs, but the duties are paid by companies importing the goods, with some costs often passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices. Consumer price index data on Tuesday showed increases in prices for some tariff-sensitive goods like furniture, footwear and auto parts, but they were offset by lower gasoline prices in the overall index. For the first 10 months of the fiscal year, customs duties totaled $135.7 billion, up $73 billion, or 116%, from the year-earlier period. The overall year-to-date budget results showed a $1.629 trillion deficit, up 7%, or $112 billion, from the same period a year earlier. Receipts were up 6%, or $262 billion, to $4.347 trillion, a record high for the 10-month period, while outlays grew 7%, or $374 billion, to $5.975 trillion, also a 10-month record. If legit... The Saw movies used to have trailers that had kills in it that wasn't in the movie... But for this type of movie, it would be difficult to make a decent trailer for people to want to see the movie and make it spoiler free...

https://bloody-disgusting.com/editorials/3893172/7-upcoming-horror-novel-adaptations-that-we-cant-wait-to-see/ The Running Man – November 7 Glen Powell stars in Paramount Pictures’ “THE RUNNING MAN.” Stephen King’s The Running Man is headed back to the big screen from director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Last Night in Soho), with Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Twisters) taking over the role played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 movie. King’s novel, published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, was released in 1982, and followed a desperate man as he signed up for an ultraviolent competition that requires him to stay alive for 30 days as he’s hunted by elite enemies. Glen Powell plays the role of Ben in Wright’s The Running Man, with Colman Domingo (Candyman), Josh Brolin (Weapons), Lee Pace (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies). and Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding) also starring in the film.

Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine) directs from a script by JT Mollner (Strange Darling). The R-rated film centers on a grim annual contest in which 100 teens must journey, nonstop and under strict rules, until only one is left alive. Expect a bleak adaptation ahead. Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza), David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus), Garrett Wareing (“Manifest”), Tut Nyout (“Witcher: Blood Origin”), Charlie Plummer (The Clovehitch Killer), Ben Wang (Karate Kid: Legends), Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit), Jordan Gonzalez (“Pretty Little Liars: Origin Sin”), Joshua Odjick (Welcome to Derry), Josh Hamilton (“Walking Dead”), Judy Greer (Halloween), and Mark Hamill (The Life of Chuck) star.

FL Teacher fired for using student’s preferred name speaks at school board meeting
posty replied to TimHauck's topic in The Geek Club
Where my wife teaches, the school system doesn't require to tell parents if their child wants to go by a different name than their death name (she teaches in middle school - 7th and 8th grade)... A nickname like Joe, instead of Joseph, won't raise any flags... However, if a child wants to be call Marion and their death name is Andrew, what will happen during correspondence if the parents aren't notified by the school? A teacher calls this individual Marion constantly in class, but the first email to a parent about a problem academically, there will be hell to pay (pointed at teacher), if one forgets and says Marion in the email instead of Andrew... Most administrations around here always agree with the parents, so that teacher would either get reprimanded or fired because of a stupid slip like this... -
You're joking, right?

I guess they like be opaque as possible... https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trump-bls-pick-hints-halting-170534520.html President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics is floating the idea of suspending the monthly jobs report in favor of less-frequent quarterly data published by the statistical agency. E.J. Antoni said that BLS should halt issuing the reports — which are widely relied upon by economists, the Federal Reserve, Wall Street and other businesses to gauge the state of the economy in close to real time — until its methods can be improved to limit subsequent revisions. “How on earth are businesses supposed to plan — or how is the Fed supposed to conduct monetary policy — when they don’t know how many jobs are being added or lost in our economy?” Antoni said in an interview with Fox News Digital released Tuesday. “Until it is corrected, the BLS should suspend issuing the monthly job reports but keep publishing the more accurate, though less timely, quarterly data,” said Antoni, who is currently the chief economist at the conservative Heritage Foundation. Such a change would almost certainly unnerve markets, and it is unclear what criteria BLS would need to meet to bring those monthly reports back online. The Fox Business report said the interview was conducted Aug. 4, before Trump’s announcement naming him as the nominee to serve as BLS commissioner. “Our Economy is booming, and E.J. will ensure that the Numbers released are HONEST and ACCURATE,” the president posted on his Truth Social account Monday evening. “I know E.J. Antoni will do an incredible job in this new role.” Trump fired the sitting commissioner, Erika McEntarfer, earlier this month after the employment report for July included unexpectedly large revisions for the two prior months — wiping away more than a quarter-million jobs, a sizable chunk of the growth under the early part of Trump’s first year back in office. Trump alleged without evidence that those numbers, as well as previous BLS data published under her tenure, were manipulated to damage Republicans. Administration officials and Trump-friendly economists like Antoni have separately tried to explain McEntarfer’s ouster as a matter of competence and ensuring trust in the bureau's work. "The fact that you consistently have large downward revisions means that there are other things wrong with your models and methodologies," Antoni told Fox Business. "Statistical assumptions that may have worked fine before Covid no longer work in today’s economy and therefore need to be revised." However, Antoni’s comments will surely come up in the Senate confirmation process.
