  8. https://www.on3.com/news/ncaa-hints-at-positive-momentum-towards-mens-basketball-moving-to-quarters-from-halves/ The NCAA revealed there’s been “positive momentum” toward the move to quarters, and the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel further recommended Division I conferences actually develop a working group to provide further feedback on the option. Men’s college basketball is the only division of the sport that utilizes halves as opposed to quarters. Women’s college basketball has utilized quarters since the 2015-16 season. “In considering the decisions last month, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee had conversations about ways to continue this direction in the upcoming years, which includes positive momentum for moving the men’s game from halves to quarters,” the NCAA’s press release Tuesday read. “The committee realizes there are hurdles to implementing the quarter format to the game, including the structuring of media timeouts to accommodate commercial inventory. “The committee recommended NCAA Division I conferences create a joint working group to provide feedback on the potential change from halves to quarters.”

  12. Thank God for that... Talk about wanting to dilute some games even more... Of course, it is a money grab... But if they did expand, would the NIT (32 teams), CBI (16 teams planned), and CBC (16 teams planned) still survive?

  21. https://bloody-disgusting.com/tv/3890859/eli-roths-hostel-tv-series-in-the-works-at-peacock-with-paul-giamatti-starring/ Eli Roth’s Hostel franchise is coming back to life with a television series, we recently learned, and Variety updates this morning that the series is in development at streamer Peacock. Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti is attached to star! Variety also notes in today’s report that Eli Roth will be writing, directing and producing the Hostel series, which marks his return to the franchise almost 20 years after Hostel: Part II. The outlet reports, “Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who produced all the Hostel films, are executive producers. Fifth Season is the studio. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps.” Giamatti is actually a longtime fan of the Hostel films. “Eli was shooting Hostel in Prague and I was shooting The Illusionist and I met him. We talked about me actually killing somebody in that movie but it never panned out,” Giamatti told EW in a 2013 interview. Released in 2005, Hostel was set in a world where the rich can pay to literally torture and murder captured victims, and Eli Roth returned to direct Hostel: Part II in 2007. The film did spawn second sequel Hostel: Part III in 2011, but Scott Spiegel took over as director.

  23. Manhunt launched after 4 killed in a shooting at a Montana bar https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/multiple-people-shot-montana-business-200415435.html ANACONDA, Mont. (AP) — Four people were killed in a shooting at a Montana bar Friday, authorities said as they launched a manhunt for the suspect. The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. on Friday at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, according to the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, which is leading the investigation. The agency confirmed four people were pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, who was identified as 45-year-old Michael Paul Brown, lived next door to the bar. Authorities said his home was cleared by a SWAT team and that he was last seen in the Stump Town area, which is just west of Anaconda. More than a dozen officers from local and state police converged on that area, where they appeared to be searching for the suspect in the woods. Brown was believed to be armed, the Montana Highway Patrol said in a statement. Anaconda is about 75 miles (120 kilometers) southeast of Missoula in a valley hemmed in by mountains to the north and south. A town of about 9,000 people, it was founded by copper barons who profited off nearby mines in the late 1800s. A giant smelter that’s no longer operational looms over the town. The owner of the Firefly Café in Anaconda said she locked up her business at about 11 a.m. Friday after getting alerted to the shooting by a friend. Two hours later, she was still waiting for an all clear before reopening. “We are Montana, so guns are not new to us. For our town to be locked down, everybody’s pretty rattled,” café owner Barbie Nelson said. “It’s a small town, so we all probably know someone who was there” at the shooting. she added.
