The Lakers have been owned by the Buss family since 1979, when Jerry Buss purchased the franchise from Jack Kent Cooke in a $67.5 million transaction that also included the Los Angeles Kings and the Los Angeles Forum. The Lakers passed to Buss' children when he died in 2013, and his daughter Jeanie has served as the Lakers' governor since. Walter has been a stakeholder in the Lakers since 2021, when he also received a right of first refusal on the majority share of the team.

The O’s postponed their Florida Complex League games on Monday and Tuesday following the incident. “Luis was a beloved member of our organization, and we are devastated following his tragic passing,” Orioles general manager Mike Elias said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and teammates, and we ask for their continued privacy during this difficult time.” Guevara was signed by Baltimore as an international free agent out of Tinaco, Venezuela, in January 2023. He played in the Dominican Summer League during his first two seasons in the organization in ‘23 and ‘24. This year, Guevara made his stateside debut.
