This morning on Beulah Road near Vienna (Virginia) there was an accident where a car hit a tree. It seemed as though every car driving by slowed down and gawked causing an even bigger back up. I don't do that anymore. Several years ago I was gawking at a roadside wreck and saw a child who was badly injured and unconscious. I read in the paper later that the child was dead at the scene. I didn't gawk this morning and probably never will again.

Yes it's two lane. It was by Clark's Crossing at the curve. And the tree was 25' off the road. It's just that cars slowed down way too much. Way way too much. I'm going right by there again in a little while. Not to look. Just working. Agreed.

Plus credit cards, etc. Last evening I get a call from a person who lives less than 4 miles away that has my wallet. He even volunteered to bring it to me. Instead I met him at the nearby 7-11. Everything was still in it, untouched. So I offered the guy $ 50 for being so kind. He refused it saying if I ever find $, to just return it to it's rightful owner. He said it once happened to him.

I went to a Washington Nationals game last night with a group of people. There were 2 kids in the group, one 9 years old, one 12. They wanted to hang around after the game to get autographs so we did. Vidro and Patterson (and his beautiful woman) and several others came out first. Then came Soriano. As you might imagine, he was swarmmed. But our kids both got his autograph. As Michael, the 12 year old was getting the autograph, we all laughed at their seemingly equal size. Soriano is supposed to be 6'1" - 180 lbs. Michael is 5'7" - 155. But as they stood there together, Soriano looked only slightly taller than the kid. And certainly no more bulkier. And that focker nailed his 23rd Homer of the year. Damn!

The only problem is (for Nationals fans) sometime in July he'll be traded for 2 pitching prospects and a true leadoff hitter. The Nats will drop like a rock then. Maybe be better in the long run. Maybe not.

Funny. It seems the hometown never thinks their player cheated. Bonds is still loved in SF and you won't get nary a negative word on McGwire in StL. Sosa? Well he burned his home.

I hear you, brother man. Stretching will make a 35 year old play and feel like 30. Those are important years, too. We've played 2 games already. I'm batting 2nd in the lineup and went 2 for 4 both games. Scored twice and we're 1 - 1. Yes. Church League. But we're all men.

It was about the war in Viet Nam and the war at home during that time. The University of Wisconsin had invited Dow Chemicals to recruit for future workers on campus. But the students found out that Dow was making Napalm which was burning the hell out of innocent Vietnamese. So the students held a peaceful protest at the recruitment site. Well the cops were told to go in and remove the students using any means necessary. So the cops just went in and beat the hell out of the students. Busted heads, broke arms and blood everywhere. All the while American GIs were being led blindly through the Viet Nam jungle right into an ambush where 1400 VC killed 160 GIs. Anybody see it?
