This is not high on my give a shiot list. But SNAP is a government funded safety net program to help the poor feed themselves, right? Is that not the safety net purpose? Beer, Cigs, Mountain Dew, and Skittles don't fit into the root purpose of the program to me. Also they are crazy bad for your health which then the poor who are more than likely on Medicaid continue with poor choices. I am 100% for freedom of choice, but when you accept government monies you waive that right to just do what you want with those monies. No?

I know very little about SNAP or food stamps. However I believe it to be a government paid safety net to help the less fortunate get basic food to feed themselves and/or their family. I am assuming you cannot purchase alcohol and cigarettes with the cards. If so I see no reason to add Sodas and Candy to the list. None of those have nutritional value. What am I missing?
