Disclaimer: I am not a global macro-economic professional unlike all of you. The US has the largest Trade Deficit in all of the world mainly because manufacturing left America and went abroad (cheap labor, probably inhumane in certain places like Vietnam and China to be fair). If reciprocal tariffs have a short term pain (stock market) but a long term gain (less trade deficit, manufacturing coming back to America, middle class jobs) then I'm for it. Makes common sense to me. I just wish Trump would have staggered these tariff's over time instead of just ripping off the band aid. I think it would've lessened the market reaction. But that's not Trumps style: So be it.

I just remembered my password and signed on to this hell hole and have not read one post in this thread. I'm sure y'all have dissected this to death but I have but one question. Does the U.S. have a higher tariff for imports than any opposing country does to the U.S for exports? If so, which ones? I am genuinely curious.

Has anyone watched his yet? I just finished episode 3 and blown away by 1. How it is filmed, I'm sure there is a cinematic term but the camera follows around the actors then switches scenes without changing location, its very cool. 2. Freaking superb acting, off the charts by essentially everyone, but the main character kid is fantastic in this role. I don't want to give anything away but so far I highly recommend it. It's pretty heavy.

Prescription medication used to treat type 2 diabetes in adults. It works by mimicking a natural hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). However people are taking it like candy for weight loss. I know friends who are not obese but just a bit overweight taking this stuff. Is it a miracle drug or what's the catch? There is always a catch....No? And no, I am not taking it, nor thinking about it. I am not perfect (unlike most Geeks) and have my own issues but weight loss is not one of them. I am genuinely concerned for some of my loved ones and friends. It's going to come out a few years from now this stuff causes cancer or some disease isn't it?

There is no telling as there is a wide range. From a department store to a boutique menswear establishment. If you ONLY wear a suit to weddings and funerals.....I'd go department store route. Just make sure you get it dry cleaned properly first to get the department store look (creases) out. If you think you wont gain or lose to much weight, will wear it more than a couple times a year, I'd recommend going and getting properly fitted and spending more. Also, while I'm sure that's a nice dress shirt in your link, unless you are a multi-millionaire you can find comparable for half that.

Actually this isn't funny stuff at all. This post comes from the people that said Covid wasn't a lab leak, that Ivermectin was just a horse paste pill, so on and so forth. All with out doing any due diligence to compare from multiple sources to see if what they are spreading holds water....or not. These people are dangerous. There have been two attempts to assassinate Trump already. Liberals are vandalizing property, promoting internet hacks, inciting violence against Elon, his businesses, friends and employees. Interesting guy, I've read a lot of his stuff. He wasn't all that old so I was shocked to hear the news.

1. Way to start off if you truly want an honest discussion. At least capitalize MAGA for the full affect. 2. Yes.......America first. 3. No, change is hard but not insane. Ripping off band aids hurt, but needed. 4. We are not invading Canada, but we are not babysitting anymore either.

I guess what I am getting at is that while I understand the upside to this pharmaceutical drug, I fear it is being over-prescribed and in 5 to 10 years time we will all agree.

Kilroy you are exactly who I am asking about. You are not 'obese' but need to shed 25 or 30 pounds. I have family members and friends just in this scenario taking Semaglutide. Pharmaceuticals have a cost vs benefit ratio, by ingesting said drug does the benefit outweigh any side effect? That is the metric right? If obese, with heart disease and diabetes then yes....but normal vitals and blood sugar but want to lose the extra 15-20 lbs? That seems wild to me.

Nothing against Jerry but hopefully this will be the last time this thread is bumped.

As a North Carolina resident it has been a dry and windy past week or so which is ripe for wildfire. I have no doubt any fires (probably man made) will be contained with minimal death and damage which happens from time to time. Despite this here thread and all the inequitable comparisons to California, this won’t be a story three days from now. Not because a person lost a life or a home was engulfed. This story will lose anti Trump political capital and will then vanish like a fart in the wind.
