I really like Sowell, I really do, as a matter of fact, I wish it was mandatory that everyone listen to him, but he is soft about some of the obstacles we've faced. However, this is a new day. The internet has really leveled the playing field and barriers that we faced before have been removed. I'm talking about the past. Things are really changing; I don't think minorities and whites for that matter are facing the same problems of the last century. It's a new day.

I don't, because he's a product of his time. He is right about many things but like Clarence Thomas and Jason Whitlock, spends too much of his time trying to prove something to white people and too often overlooking the obstacles and disadvantages blacks face and have to overcome. Yes, if we get good educations, stay in school, marry and go to work, blah, blah, blah... but forget all about the poor unsafe school and neighborhoods that we live in and cannot move out of due to racial impediments and how whites can effortlessly move through society in comparison...don't get me started.

I just wanted to crush the bonding over making fun of someone, not on my watch.

We're not British, and to us as Americans, many British accents sound smart (not all). We're not keen to it, but to the British, they do know and sort of peg people by their accents. There is a sort of hierarchy of accents. Rumor has it that Margaret Thatcher had training to make her voice sound more royal or elevated:

No, no, no...don't even try it, don't try to switch it, the argument is about Lamar Jackson graduating kindergarten, not every player, playa.

It's not racist to call a person of color dumb. However, calling a successful exceptional person dumb who you have witnessed with your own eyes giving interviews and hasn't exhibited ignorant behavior other than speaking in a way that has been stereotypically labeled inferior, is dumb.
-
Why am I even in your comment? The person you should be addressing is the OP. I clearly have explained why Lamar speaks the way he does; it's a regional dialect that reflects his segregated poor upbringing. I don't need Thomas Sowell, but you and the others here might need him.

I posted this so that you will try to see past a person’s general exterior. Stop being simple minded jerks.
-
I will end with this: Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes do not have college degrees. Therefore, he did graduate from kindergarten and seems to be pretty smart:

When did QBs all of a sudden become dumb??? Why is it then, that there haven't been black QBs before now? What was the reason? I remember them specifically saying that being a QB requires more than athleticism and that is why the door was closed to them. He's a QB, so what makes you think he's a dolt?
-
Because everything about him other than the way he speaks is smart. Dumbass. If someone shoved a camera and a microphone in your face asking you about the job you did and the mistakes you made and about your life, I doubt you'd sound interesting or coherent.

1 thread started by a racist too dumb to see his racism and 2 pages of comments of racists defending him. It’s racist to call a black person dumb just because he has a regional accent that differs from your own regional accent. The way you speak isn’t a direct correlation to your intelligence. To ignore all the accomplishments of Lamar Jackson, to call a QB dumb, a position that has been denied Black athletes for decades for the very reason that it’s not just a physical position but one that requires leadership and intelligence, and to then ask if he graduated kindergarten is simply a call for other small minded hating ass haters to gather round and make fun of a man who (through no fault of his own) grew up in poverty and segregation. You’d think that you’d stop making fun of the way black people spoke after hearing Chris Rock’s stand up. You’d think you’d stop making fun of the way black people spoke after hearing Michael Johnson, Mike Tyson and 50 cent increase their vocabulary the more they became integrated and interviewed. It’s just a dialect and not a real indicator of someone’s intellect. And it’s only stupid or dumb if the accent is foreign to you.

Because women don't complain about things that aren't truly problematic. Me too was about sexual harassment. This whole trans-movement was started by white men and gay movement was also started by white men. Blame yourselves.

What once seemed like a somewhat funny movie filled with insulting stereotypes of American southern culture seems more like a documentary today.

Well, I hope it’s not true!

It’s just weird how the sky is without a cloud and then 2 hours later the entire skyline is filled with checkerboards of lines. The trails don’t come out of passenger planes. They come out of very tiny places that you can barely see. What is their purpose? I started noticing them during Covid. I would come to work and notice big X’s in the sky. I thought, how weird? Why would the rest of the lines disappear and only leave X’s? That’s when I started noticing the lines in the sky. It can’t just be weather related because I’ve seen them created during a lunch hour. Sometimes the lines fluff out into large clouds. You’d think the clouds were natural but were in fact just plane contrails spread out. (Our lunch area is on the top of our building and overlooks the city.)
