No one is getting rich off a food stamps. Have you ever even been to a grocery store in a poor neighborhood? They barely have a good cut of steak. I never even saw good cuts of meat until I moved to Georgia. They don’t offer things like lobster and premium cuts of meat in poor neighborhoods.

The average mother and child receives $372/month in food stamps. How much do you spend a month on groceries?
-
As I’ve stated earlier trust you are likely seeing a scammer, not a real poor person. Instead of seeing a criminal abusing the system you blame tire poor who need those very food stamps or you blame the system. See the difference??? The government does not give out food stamps in large quantities to allow anyone to buy food like that unless there is a lie or a scam.

You just said there yourself that work gives you dignity, right? Having to pull out food stamps, which is charity for people who are currently unemployed or underemployed, makes people feel ashamed. The card allows them to blend in with others who are using a credit card to buy food. Surely, you can understand my point.

Is your Christmas tree still up? When will you take it down? My decorations are still up.

People who don’t want children and make efforts, such as birth control and abstinence, aren’t having children. The only people who are having children that don’t want them and can’t afford them are people who had unplanned pregnancies. The only way to get rid of an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy is through abortion.

I agree, that’s why we shouldn’t make abortion illegal.

Welfare is a cash benefit, it’s cash. Food stamps are to buy food only. You can’t use food stamps to buy toothpaste, sanitary napkins, soap or greeting cards. So a person on welfare, when they go to the grocery store, they use their food stamps to buy the food portion of their grocery bill and the non food items will be paid for with their welfare benefits (cash). So way back when I received welfare and food stamps, they didn’t have a card (which made it shameful to have to use food stamps-a card gives you a bit of dignity because no one can really see that you’re poor) I had to pay the food part with my food stamps and the stuff like diapers and laundry detergent with my welfare cash benefit. (Years ago you’d have to cash your welfare check at check cashing place. Now the money is on the card.) Only scammers get rich from welfare/food stamps: Mormoms fall under that category.

I agree with this, but I’d likely have said yes. -
No, but I am not going to waste my breath about it. You’ll remember my words when you need someone to care for your aging parents or when your kids are too busy to care for you. All that BS you’re talking about…. You’re going to get a rude awakening when you realize how much nursing homes cost a month.

And these idiots don’t see how hiring an older person who is handicapped falls under diversity. What kind of genius do they think it takes to stock shelves or to be a cashier or hand out food samples. Ridiculous.

At my job the only thing DEI has been used for is sensitivity training and learning about each other. No new hires. We don’t bully or be disrespectful of differences. I’ve learned about my colleagues who have origins in Kashmir, Madrid, Beijing, Hyderabad, Montana, a Native American reservation in NY, Germany… You all are so threatened and scared and are scary.
-
So you guys are the ones cheering for the police with fire hoses during the civil rights movement? You know, you’re only a few years away from being the ones who will be considered the ‘diverse’ in DEI?

And furthermore, welfare isn’t food stamps. Those are 2 separate things. A person, a senior citizen for example, could have worked their entire lives but maybe qualifies for food stamps because their monthly social security is a low payment. Can you imagine some weasel side eyeing your hard working Dad while he’s grocery shopping who is now retired and on food stamps? Some elderly people have to make themselves poor so they can qualify for Medicaid. Y’all need to STFU because these are issues you’ll have to face as your parents get older sicker and even worse as you get older and sicker. One bad illness, dementia or Alzheimer’s care could wipe out your savings.

If you get $145/mo for food stamps for you and your child, do you think a person would buy an expensive cut of steak? They would be greatly limiting their ability to buy food for the rest of the month. Even if they did make that choice, isn’t it clear that they made some severe sacrifices in other areas to afford that luxury? Why are you jealous of people who get food stamps? Over the years this is a constant complaint from you all. Once someone complained that they saw a shopper buying crab legs with food stamps. Mind your business! You have no idea what you’re seeing. Maybe the person eats beans and tortillas all month to be able to splurge on 1 order of $5 crab legs for 1 day. Geesh. How miserable do you all have to be with your good salary to look at a poor person and judge them.

I haven’t read this thread, not sure why it was uh…can’t think of the word, but brought back up again. I’m too lazy to read the new comments. (Bumped)

Someone was looking for it at a later time and I’m glad he found it. I tend to delete my threads because they tend to turn ugly for some reason.

My new year's resolutions are: To start getting to work early and leave early like everyone else here. To work out regularly. To travel more, even if just locally. To cook at home more. To spend less time on Instagram. To really dedicate myself to learning Spanish, French and Chinese. Are there any resolutions you'd like to share?
