Is anyone watching the running of the torch? I'm at work and can't see anything. Please let me know what's going on and post links and pics if you can, thanks!

Sonya Massey - black woman shot by white police officer in her home

Toll booth operators don't carry guns and they interact with car drivers, and they even have money. Somehow, they manage to do their jobs without weapons. Meter maids aren't walking around with guns and they give out tickets all the time without much incident. What about people who tow cars! If they aren't being shot dead, then our special unarmed police will be just fine without them. I'm not saying regular police, I'm saying, make a special task force that only gives out tickets for things like speeding, going through stop signs, have a broken window or taillight out. Those people don't need to be armed. -

We will just have to disagree on this topic. If China and the United Kingdom manage, I think we can too. -

The same thing police officers do in other countries where they don't allow them to even carry guns. -

I think this was a video about compassion and standing up for people in need. Remember, a woman was murdered in front of her neighbors because no one called the police because they thought someone else would do it (bystander effect). I had a similar class and it taught me to take action when I witnessed abuse. I am forever grateful. -

I watched the video again too and I tried my best to put myself in his shoes and not see him as the villain. I did note that she didn't just turn off the boiling pot of water, she picked it up. Was it boiling spaghetti and she was planning to drain off the water into a colander that was in the sink? Why did she move with the pot of boiling water and did that movement make him think she was going to throw it at him? When she rebuked him, did he think she was calling him a demon and thought she was going to throw the water on him? This still doesn't absolve him from murder, I'm just trying to get into his mind. He was way too aggressive towards her. Even if she was mentally ill, she didn't deserve a bullet. What if she was drunk? I mean, people don't always act perfectly normal. I'll say it again as I've stated over the years, we need a first responder that doesn't involve guns. We don't need police with guns to pull over a car that ran a stop sign, has a taillight out or is driving over the speed limit. We don't need police with guns to help a family with an adult that is having an episode or mental breakdown, we don't need police with guns to respond to a noise complaint or an intruder that isn't currently intruding. -

You just said a whole lot of nothing. What does my whole life have to do with my comment? See how you can't stay on topic? I've read multiple comments about Kamala and her sexual exploits, that by the way, no one really knows the truth. Attack her voting record and policies and try not to kick dust around by straying off of the subject. -

I guess none of you have seen the video. She was asked to remove the boiling water from the stove. She actually bends down in fear when they approach her with their guns. How can she throw the water at them when she bends down in fear? I suggest you watch the video instead of believing lies. -

It's funny, you conservatives...and let me say, I'm not a fan of Kamala Harris, but you guys seem to always say something negative about politicians you don't like that have absolutely nothing to do with their education, careers or policies. You'll seem less racist if you discuss all those things you don't like that refer to things they've done while in office instead of what they've done in their private lives, what they look like or where they came from... -

Biden has COVID, he said "should his doctors tell him he had a "medical condition," he would consider dropping out".

How much handout do you think welfare was paying? It was $3000/year. Read it again, $3000 a year. People have 10x that amount a year in loans. That handout was to provide 2 humans a way to stay alive for a year, not for optional adult education. Today, 1 child to 1 single mother gets $5100/yr. in the state of NJ. I really wish people would stop complaining about welfare/TANF benefits. It's only enough to prevent people from starving and living on the streets. Of course, it never paid enough to cover rent, which is how people get stuck in the cycle of poverty. You have to get rental assistance or live in the housing projects to be able to afford rent at very low prices. Once in an area where there are no jobs, no good education, safety or decent healthcare, you're stuck. It was only a miracle of an ex-boyfriend that saved me. -
Well, if it is Kamala, I sure hope she has something in her to show that I haven’t seen in the past 4 years. She’s been a bump on a log if you ask me.

No one likes Kamala. Who will run instead?

At least 1/3 of $300 billion given during Covid was fraud. Now everyone is getting their student loan debt forgiven. Meanwhile, my daughter didn't go to her dream school and both of us paid back our student loans. I feel like a wanker. -
I don't get it? I've always been a black woman. Oh, I get it now. I can switch to being a trans-man. No, never. Uck.

She, I am a woman.

Never!!!

I haven't read anyone here calling for his death like you all usually do whenever some crime is committed by a person of color. And yes, I do kind of feel sorry for him and his parents. He was really young and must've had no friends to stop him or talk to him. It's a shame what happened. I'm sad for all who died and those that were injured. I wish we all would reflect on why this keeps happening. And why it seems to be a certain demographic that keeps committing this sort of crime.... white males

I know, right.

When the Central Park Jogger kids were apprehended, news media went banging on the doors of the apartments of the parents and asked them why their children raped that woman. They quickly put together a news "townhall meeting" to discuss black violence and "wilding". Seems to me, now that we know who Thomas Matthew Crooks actually was, there is more of a sympathetic tone, we should all feel sorry for him because he was bullied. Why aren't they dragging out his parents and showing pictures of him holding a gun like they did with Trayvon Martin who killed no one? I'm just pointing out that if Trump's shooter had actually been a transexual like you all claimed earlier or someone of color, the news would be vilifying him. I'm just noting the difference of treatment. Heck, a black person who was shot or killed by a police officer is treated more harshly by the media than this guy. Think of how poorly you feel about George Floyd? He didn't shoot anyone and yet many of you feel anger towards him.

So you all were wrong about almost everything. I’m not surprised.
