  1. Please post a way in which today’s kids are different than when you grew up. My sister is a high school English teacher and she says kids spend most of their time with their faces in their phone or computer. She said at lunch the kids aren’t talking to one another but rather looking down at their phones, scrolling. In class she asked about a child who was absent and the kids said they didn’t know anything about the student and that the kids don’t even know everyone’s/each other’s names. She says many of the children today are introverts.

    Kids are different these days….

I don’t have any young children so I was surprised that kids didn’t know their classmate’s names. I was hoping to learn more from others here. Not sure why you are so triggered?
  6. I’m going to add some flavor and spice to this thread:

  10. Black people are not inherently bad. I came from poverty and I didn’t shoot or kill anyone. In 1960 55% of blacks were living in poverty. Today just 17% are poor. We’re making progress despite the obstacles. Sadly, we are disproportionately involved in crime. I hope that changes.
  11. I think those people are living in concentrated poverty. It’s not like they have nice homes, good schools or jobs.
  12. I’m afraid I am not aware of his sexual assault charges. I had no idea. I’ll delete him.
  13. I thought his point was that the telescope wasn’t created for the purpose of war but it was used to help military see better and have the user an advantage. Do you disagree? Or are you just argumentative by nature? My point was that I really wish that whites wouldn’t just throw all blacks in the same basket as criminals and no-good just because they see a news story about an individual black person that committed a crime. Lastly, just as blacks were expected to reserve judgement against that white police officer lady that killed that black man who was in his own apartment or against George Zimmerman and at least 30 other cases I can think of, perhaps don’t call her this woman a b-word or claim all blacks are this or that. If you can’t do it, then don’t expect blacks to reserve judgement before the trial is over in the next case that comes up.
  14. First, despite the medias intense focus, most black people I knew, didn’t follow the case closely. They just felt he was innocent without understanding the facts of the case. Many did not trust the police and believed the police corrupted the evidence and felt he was set up. I actually was one of the few who was interested and followed the story closely. I thought he was guilty and felt the prosecution proved its case. Even my Dad, who played football and knew OJ believed he was innocent. Until this very day he’ll say that OJ was really nice and super friendly and not the type at all. He said OJ didn’t have that sort of personality. OJ likes a good time and was easy going. You know…some men don’t want to understand that behind closed doors people can be different.

    Buh bye Abe Lincoln!

It was a temporary display that was put up in 2013! Can they put up something else new now? It’s been years. Geesh. It doesn’t have anything to do with erasing history, just changing to another topic. Not everything is about destroying icons.

  17. I thought he was guilty and I didn’t cheer for him. The cameras weren’t there to capture my reaction for some reason…..
  18. I think blacks that are poor and living in densely packed high rise structures in food and job deserts are living in conditions that are abnormal. Even rats will kill and even eat each other without proper food, space and lack of resources. Blacks can certainly improve in this area. We don’t do as good a job as other groups in caring for where we live. But, I think the areas that are really nice aren’t often shown. Lots of places especially in the Atlanta metro area are pristine and beautiful.
  19. Says who? I don’t think Native Americans blame blacks for their destruction and the ruin of the country as they knew it. We predominantly live in the major cities, what’s the excuse for the rest of the country? The price of food, the high cost of homes, the lack of manufacturing jobs, the opioid crisis, the high cost of healthcare are not the fault of black people.
  20. Maybe she felt he was going to rob her or she felt threatened. It happens. I think you shouldn’t come to a conclusion until you hear all the facts which includes her perspective. At least that’s what the public is told whenever there is an unarmed person who was shot by the police. We mustn’t jump to conclusions. Remember when that woman shot that black man while he was in his own apartment? We had to wait, because she thought she was in her apartment and that’s why she killed him, it was a mistake.
  21. Good point. Notice how quickly the narrative comes out that he was a nice grandpa just going to apologize for hitting her car. By the way, I don’t doubt that this was case. I immediately got so sad for this man and his family. However, I also note that negative images and stories come out when the victim is black and the assailant is white. Trayvon was shown wearing a ‘scary threatening hoodie’ and they published pictures him holding a gun when was unarmed. I’m just noting how the media tries to paint a portrait of everyone involved before all the facts come out. If she’s (the shooter) from California and a car hits you gently and someone got out (and is parked behind you) that could mean you’re about to get robbed. Now, clearly it’s not usually some old white guy but a street savvy person is thinking they’re getting ´run up on’. That is my opinion of what was going on in her mind. It happens. People get robbed like that all the time.

    A compliment!
  23. I know what I wrote and I wasn’t angry so I need you to show me where you found my words angry and please point out any racist remark I’ve made.

No, there isn’t a hell or a God for that matter.
