I spent the first half of my career working in the private sector and the last half on government contracts. The cost for a government contract is easily 2-3x that of a similar private project. The problem as I see it is that the waste is so systematic that by the time you root it all out, the effort just won’t be worth it. It’s easier to scrap it and start over.
