Agreed. I was wrong about him. I don’t agree with him on a lot of things, but it’s refreshing to have a politician doing and saying what he thinks is right and not just the party line. He’s got my vote.

The success or failure of the tariffs, and the midterm elections for the republicans for that matter, is whether or not we start to see new trade agreements finalized by some of bigger trade partners like the Europeans, Japan, and India. Given progress with these countries, I think it will take some pressure off of the stock market and the repercussions of the "embargo" on China.

I’ll ignore the first paragraph since it has nothing to do with this topic. This debt is unsustainable. There has to be a reckoning. Would you rather keep the status quo and continue to borrow from the future and just let it collapse at some point or make sacrifices now that may start to balance spending/revenues?

I have no idea if this is the correct path or not. I have to think there are very smart people preparing these plans. I think they may have underestimated the unwillingness of this country to make any sacrifice, even for a short period of time, for the greater good. Previous generations would be ashamed.
