If we are talking in the wild, where you expect to see critters, a few cool stories (to me at least ) come to mind. Was in Yellowstone Park in late 90’s and went on a hike where they said Grizzlies were active. Buddy and I came around corner and there was a big carcass with a huge rib cage that was gnarled on. Was not exactly fresh but wasn’t old either. We got the fock out of dodge. That hike was over. Paid a little more attention to the bear warnings after that. My dad and I backpacked in Olympic Park. When we showed up to get the permit they required bear canisters for food. I didn’t want to mess with it but pops insisted. We saw multiple bear the whole hike. Including one morning where we woke up to Roosevelt Elk on a hillside across from where we camped. They all disappeared pretty quickly and a bear came meandering through shortly after. They completely ignored us for the most part. On another trip to same park, Mountain Goats were everywhere. They would come right up to you. Wherever you took a pee they would immediately run over to eat the plants you peed on. Final one was backpacking in Mexico Copper Canyon area. Me and my buddy were really not properly prepared for this. We planned on hiking between two remote towns. Was supposed to take a few days. We had excellent maps and gear but counted on there being actual marked trails. That was not the case or there were many trials all branching out at many junctions. We got sort of lost on one of the days and came across a pot field on this hillside. We were trying to hustle out of here and came upon a couple kids who I think were working the pot fields looking at us like we were insane. We were. A ton of crazy stuff happened in those few days but this one was the most memorable.

I’m asking about this guy. Didn’t really hear the case being made for why he’s qualified by Republicans today but I did miss most of it. Certainly heard reasons to question him in a short period. I don’t remember Leon Panetta’s hearing but he came from directing CIA. That probably tops hosting Fox and Friends Weekends

She dissected her issues with Three Sheets Pete very well. Got through multiple points. Got a few “gotchas”. Was very effective. He’ll get nominated but she spent her time well.

That’s how these always go. They want their questions asked and have them answered, When you are attempting to get to the point that the guy isn’t qualified to run the Def Department because he left other much smaller agencies he ran with budget problems you frame your series of questions in a certain manner.

She def got after him and made a series of legitimate points and observations. For his part he did just mostly sit there and take it. Got way out of his depth when talking about that agency/org that he was naming the wrong countries and think he just decided to shut up after that

It’s all part of the drama. I caught a woman Senator Dem near the end who was asking some good questions and had to keep cutting him off. They have their 8 minutes or whatever so they want to get through their script. He was answering well, she was correctly calling him out. The next guy up had a funny line using his last name “Sheehy” but then spent his time asking how many pushups Drunk Pete did today and what caliber ammo various weapons use. It’s all a show largely. He didn’t shet the bed so he will get the job regardless of how unqualified he may be.

I missed almost all the hearing today but am now watching some of the talking heads do the breakdown. He is almost assuredly getting the job according to them and majority of them are saying how well he did today. His TV background had to play a big role there.

Biden, or any Presidential nom, isn’t going to be replaced on allegations. This guy was picked for a Cabinet position. They are discardable - see Matt Gaetz. It’s unusual he was picked, very unusual he wasn’t forced to step down, but whatever. He was on TV!

Yeah he may end up being terrible. But if the majority wants to vote him to the job that’s the way it works. That Trump watched him on Fox and Friends while taking his morning dumps was the biggest factor in him getting the gig is crazy but it’s where we are.
