Trump's NY Election Interference Trial - Trump is found guilty on all 34 counts
thegeneral replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
In this case I think he’s a liar. But yeah I don’t think he needs to recuse himself either for this. I think it’s absurd people are making this argument about Merchan (perhaps people think he’s a liar as well). It doesn’t really matter unless straight up errors can be found in how they did the job. Judges are understandably offered a lot of latitude. I’m not a lawyer though so who knows. Clarence Thomas’ actions are a bigger problem for me. His batshit wife and more important his “gifts” he has received. Not really sure how to deal with that. -

Thanks. I had missed this. I didn’t realize he tossed the wife under the bus for both. Seems pretty fishy but if he says so. His wife sounds very devoted to flag flying -

What reason did Alito offer for flying the flag at his vacation home? I missed an explanation of this. -

Yeah. I see you have completed the pivot now. You all have picked this dude multiple times. Twice out of a field of many Republicans. You had a smorgasbord of stick up the assses to pick from! Have the decency to not have the “it’s all the libs fault they are making us pick this guy!” shtick! TIA -

Look you all can pick any random dude to get a big tax cut through. You picked this orange nightmare multiple times now. Just own it and don’t blame the Dems -

You all picked him out of large fields, twice! The second time after he pulled all the Jan 6th election bullshit But this is the Dems fault because they stole the election from him something, something. -

Trump's NY Election Interference Trial - Trump is found guilty on all 34 counts
thegeneral replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
Right. It’s different. “Paula Jones in 1998 settled a civil lawsuit. Clinton’s payment was public and legal, and the funds did not come from the government, nor did they amount to a campaign contribution. By comparison, the payment in Trump’s case was through a shell company and reimbursed by Trump, whose company logged the reimbursements as legal expenses in the final weeks of his 2016 presidential campaign.” -

So the point being contested was who cares if they paid off the hoars! Well obviously the people paying do. The secondary point then became they are both the same! It’s a witch hunt!!1! Donald is just a victim! The circumstances weren’t the same, it’s clear. Which gets us back to why Trump was charged here and Clinton was not. -

Yes I’m sure you would be acting the same if this were Pedo Joe! In any case the circumstances around the payments between Bill / Paula Jones and Trump / Stormy are not close to the same which is why Don found himself in hot water. -

So see many people would care that was the point of Trump paying her off. It differed in many ways from Clinton and Paula Jones which was a public settlement and most importantly the nature of how these were paid.
