Don’t be jealous of the Jets. They’ve been going through a total rebuild since Joe Namath. -

My cat is 17 now. She remains in good health with lots of energy. I will be absolutely miserable when she finally passes. Life won’t be the same without her. -

I like the Trojans this year. I thought they could have beaten Notre Dame but blew it. Of course I’m hoping the Bruins can be competitive with them in a couple of weeks, maybe get an upset. Not holding my breath as USC is clearly a much better team. -

Speaking of UCLA, kind of big news for them: they’re moving to So Fi where I was last night: https://247sports.com/college/ucla/article/ucla-football-move-from-rose-bowl-sofi-stadium-260786872/ This makes a lot of sense. The Rose Bowl is old and antiquated, So Fi is brand new. The Rose Bowl is a long drive from the campus, has way too many seats which always makes Bruin games feel half empty. Plus it was never the traditional home of UCLA football; they only started playing there in the 80s. Before that they shared the Colisseum with USC, another really old venue and also right next to USC. So hopefully this news will bring some energy to this program, help with recruiting, etc. I might be interested in season tickets depending on the price. It’s a much easier drive for me. -

And we both forgot to mention my UCLA Bruins who travel to Columbus this Saturday. Sure, we’re 31 point underdogs but what the hell, right? -

OK. I just explained why a vote on the ACA extension is so significant. But go ahead and ignore facts and reason like you usually do. That’s your prerogative and your pattern. -

I would not. I’ve watched plenty of Oregon play this year. I don’t think they’re good enough. -

No I was busy watching the Steelers get thrashed. But it only helps the Democrats for the majority of them to be opposed to ending the shutdown. If you don’t understand that then you don’t understand politics. Did you make up the story about AOC? Or did someone else online make it up and you simply decided to post it without a link? -

Lol you were wrong again. The Democrats didn’t cave. 8 Democrats chose, against the wishes of the rest, to reach a compromise. The public understands that the Dems have very few options here, with Republicans in control of everything. Now there’s going to be a vote on extending the increased ACA subsidies for another year next month, which forces Republicans to do what they have tried so hard to avoid: actually having to vote on this issue. If they agree to extend the benefits, which the overwhelming majority of Americans want (including a sizable number of MAGA supporters) that’s a huge victory for the Democrats and absolutely justifies the shutdown, if the bill fails, or is stalled out in the House, or Trump ends up vetoing, that will help to ensure the almost already guaranteed blue wave next November- though this latter result will hurt millions of Americans if it happens, it won’t hurt Democrats politically. Either way, in terms of politics, Democrats emerge the winners from last night. -

Had a great time last night despite the Steelers playing so terribly. So Fi is a fun place to watch a football game. It was cool seeing Keenan Allen break the Chargers receiving record; that was a nice moment. The Steelers need to draft a quarterback, that’s their first priority. But their overpaid aging defense is also a big problem. It may be a while before this team gets back to the SB. And as much as I love and defend Mike Tomlin, it may be time to move on in a different direction. -

Schumer voted against the bill last night. @HellToupee, as usual, failed to provide any link to his story and I strongly doubt it happened as it makes no sense whatsoever. -

Deal had been agreed to. I know some progressives are disappointed, I disagree. I think this is a win for everyone, There will be a vote in December to extend the ACA subsidies for a year. I believe it will pass, but if Republicans vote against they’re just screwing fhemselves more for next November. -
Trump called Schumer's BLUFF

That wasn’t the thinking. The thinking was that Republicans would care, not Trump. And they do. -

I think the strategy was fine. I don’t think it backfired at all given public opinion. I think they’re going to get the government open AND the ACA extension eventually, in about a month. It probably would have backfired if they allowed the shutdown to continue much longer. Hopefully the compromise is real. -
The Republicans gerrymandered 5 new seats in Texas, a deliberate act AGAINST democracy. Newsom in California said “I want to counter this, but I will let the voters of California decide if they want me to.” We did. Overwhelmingly. That’s how democracy works.

https://www.axios.com/2025/11/09/senate-deal-to-end-government-shutdown-sunday-vote “It would include a December vote to extend ACA benefits for 1 year”. Good enough. A compromise on both sides, nobody is seen as caving. (And a victory for Democrats since we all know that Republicans won’t dare vote publicly to reject the ACA unless it’s part of a larger deal.) Let’s get it done. -
Given the results of the vote Tuesday night, this statement is incredible and Orwellian.

1. Yes Trump is anti-immigrant. He has limited legal immigration to its smallest number ever, and intends that the vast majority be white Afrikaners whom he falsely labels as refugees. 2. Yes Trump is anti-trade. He has placed tariffs on every country on Earth including those we have a trade surplus with (for example a 30% tariff on Switzerland.) Trump is not doing this to push for fair trade; he apparently honestly believes that tariffs will both increase government revenue and boost American manufacturing without hurting the American consumer. He is wrong. 3. Yes this current government is incompetent, by far the most incompetent of my lifetime (excepting perhaps, Trump’s first term in its final year when the COVID crisis hit.) There are too many examples to list as to why this is so, they’re all over the news. Objectively speaking to even compare it to the Biden term, whatever its faults, is absurd. I don’t expect to convince you of these 3 points though the facts are apparent for all to see. But I think the public gets it as you’ll see in the next couple of election cycles.

Rather than keep going back to this side issue, care to comment on the Trump decision to withhold SNAP payments? -
OK? This still doesn’t make any sense. Proposition 50 was voted on by all Californians. We could have rejected it, we did not. We voted for it overwhelmingly. People literally stood in line for hours to vote for it. Yet to you this is undemocratic. Furthermore.lets contrast what California did to what Texas did. Texas, at Trump’s demand changed their electoral map through a one party vote by the legislature without asking the voters. If you’re going to call out things that are undemocratic, surely THIS should be your example, not California?

You continue to ignore the argument that no matter what flaws Newsom might have he would be vastly superior to the anti-immigrant, anti-trade, incompetent government that is currently in charge. Only a complete moron wouldn’t find ANY Democrat preferable to that.

The.nominee of the Democratic Party in 2028, whoever it is, will not win or lose based on popularity, or like or dislike from the country. That election will be a referendum on the 4 years preceding it, full stop. If the public feels the way about Trump they do now, the Democrats will win easily.
