They supposedly abandoned trying to obtain weapons in 2003 and haven’t resumed it, if we take their word for it. Of course we don’t but that’s why I’m confused by what Trump is demanding.

Something doesn’t make sense about this. Is he waiting for Iran to say “OK we abandon it”? Because they’ve done that all along. Is there some more specific demand?

With the possible exception of Lindsey Graham, I haven’t read anyone express this opinion, includIng MAGA.

Question: does anyone here who supports this decision also support making it illegal for adults to receive this same medical care?

I would hope that I would have the bravery to stand up against injustice. But I also hope I don’t have to find out.

Hey guys, this topic is about as serious as it gets at the moment. Can we put aside the whole RLLD lied/didn't lie thing? Truly doubt anyone is that interested any more.

I sure hope Trump is getting some decent advice here because my strong suspicion is that he is as unprepared to make this decision as I would be.

It would not be a war in terms of a military invasion or occupation. We have bombed countries before without going to war with them. But it would lead to increased chances of terrorism against us. Is it worth that?

Should Trump authorize the B-2 bomber? If the news is correct, we can finish off Iran’s nuclear capacity for decades, and Israel cannot. It’s a huge decision. But maybe we should do it. I am honestly unsure and would hate to have to make this decision.

When I wrote earlier that I was troubled by what the comptroller had done it was based on a description that was offered here. When I watched the video I changed my mind. No law enforcement was impeded, this wasn’t a stunt, Lauder did nothing wrong. I shouldn’t ever believe what is posted here by the MAGA crowd. It’s almost always bullsh!t

Senator Padilla did not forcibly intervene. Big distinction. But it seems to me all of you guys are missing the main wrong doing here which isn’t the politicians or any of the protestors, as stupid or wrongheaded as some of them may act. It’s the ICE people. They’re acting like thugs. They’re rounding up people, some of them innocent. They’re not giving due process. They’re taking away folks who are not violent criminals. Even if many of you guys think that all of this is OK, the public does not and there’s going to be a reaction. It’s wrong.

Peaceful resistance. I’ve condemned violent resistance in so many threads, so often, that I didn’t think it was necessary to make that distinction. The Jan 6 folks are not wrong for resisting (though of course I think their cause was wrong) they are wrong for their violence.

Years ago, in college, I was assigned two novels to read: 1984 by George Orwell and The Trial by Franz Kafka. Orwell’s the more famous and for decades after it was written folks on both left and right have been warning about the upcoming dictatorship. But to me Kafka was far more terrifying, because I found it far more plausible: the idea that there is no authority, no reason for anything that happens, and that the ultimate decider of our affairs is whim and chaos. I view Donald Trump as the epitome of this: he seems to embrace it.

Hey @RLLD I don’t think you lied here and i don’t think you lie in general. But I DO think you succumbed here, perhaps inadvertently, to something you’re far too guilty of: you give Trump too much credit. You constantly seem to assume that there is some thoughtful design to his actions. You’re not the only one of course; plenty of both his admirers and critics do the same thing. But Donald Trump is not playing 5D chess to our benefit, nor is he scheming to turn us into a dictatorship. The truth is, in some ways, much more pathetic yet also much scarier: Trump has NO convictions, no plan, no vision. Everything he says and does is completely on the spur of the moment.
