Better yet: why not just allow anyone who hasn’t committed a violent felony to stay here and get a green card? Have them pay a fine for coming into the country illegally but let them stay. End this mass deportation nonsense and concentrate on deporting the bad guys. What is wrong with that?

Not ignoring it. It’s ugly and awful and will create more drama. But it’s mostly for show while the pullback is not. As most of us liberals have said from the beginning: we don’t have a problem with deporting violent criminals. We don’t want them here either. We do have a problem with deporting hard working people whose only crime is the method they arrived here. You guys want that to happen; we don’t. So when Trump pulls back from that we are happy and relieved.

Much like the guy who started this thread, I’m pretty sure that Trump figured sending the National Guard and the Marines to Los Angeles would be a sure winner for him in the polls. It will be interesting to look back at this thread after next November and see how many of these issues were actually 80-20. Current polling suggests quite a different conclusion…

The best comparison, in terms of grass roots, to the “No Kings” movement would be the Tea Party movement of 2009-10. Lots of similarities.

I’m sure, since this is your claim in a thread you started, you can provide studies or statistical evidence to support it, and the fact that you haven’t done so up to this point is merely an oversight.

What’s hilarious about your critique is that @EternalShinyAndChrome has made his claim many times and has never provided any kind of evidence at all. That’s why I used the word serious. You have to the best of my knowledge never criticized Eternal for making such a claim without providing any evidence. Yet the minute I offer actual evidence to the contrary you immediately attack it. It’s not like the study I produced is the only one out there. There are plenty of others. I don’t find them shoddy nor evidence of an agenda as you claim. But if either of those points are true then there should be evidence that points in the other direction. You’re welcome to provide it, since Eternal won’t.

Again we don’t know if the authorities incited this incident. They’re reportedly doing that everywhere. And I have to question the accuracy of your reporting since you (a) don’t provide a link and (b) have a very bad reputation here of spreading false stories. But the bigger issue is this: there’s a lot of very justifiable anger against ICE right now. Under Trump and Homan, they are behaving like Gestapo thugs, and the majority of the public do NOT approve. That doesn’t excuse violence against them, but there’s going to be a lot of tension so long as the Trump Administration continues to violate the Constitution.

Actually everything I’m hearing is that the police, at least in Los Angeles, have provoked the violence. That is of course in keeping with the history of these incidents.

You have a point for sure. But on the other hand suppose I really do believe that some of the words you used apply? I’ve always thought Fascist, Nazi, Hitler, is over the top, but I honestly do think that white supremacy does apply to parts of the MAGA movement, and that Tom Homan’s ICE behave like the Gestapo. You’re free to disagree but that’s what I think. Should I hide those thoughts because some idiot nutcase might run with them? Sorry but I’m not going to do that. And neither I nor the MSM are responsible for that nutcase.

Honestly I don’t think China cares too much about this sort of thing. They want us to be a market for their imports and otherwise leave them alone.
