Reciprocal “tit for tat” tariffs- except that it will also go towards vaguely defined “unfair trading practices” 25% on all foreign autos starting Midnight Thursday. I imagine a lot of dealerships are freaking out right now…

I am, for two reasons: 1. There’s no evidence of voter fraud in this country. It’s not an issue, never been. So this is unnecessary. 2. It depresses voting from poorer people and minorities. Which is, I believe, the whole point.

You’ve asked this many times. It’s true. It doesn’t have anything whatsoever to do with intellectual ability. If you think there is a connection between this fact and intellectual ability, then you are a bigot and an idiot. HTH.

Happened exactly as I wrote. Two heavily red districts, one of which Trump won by 30 points last year, and the GOP barely squeaks out victories. Watch out for next year; if you’re a conservative it won’t be pretty.

Petronas will win. It’s still too early for the public to properly react to Trump’s disastrous moves. Too bad. It’s coming though.

He and the Republicans are really lucky that the tariffs haven’t taken effect yet; that’s the ONLY reason Fine was barely able to hang on in Florida. If Trump does what he says for real next year will be a disaster for the GOP (the problem is by then it will be too late; we will ALL suffer the consequences of these horrible decisions.)

I love how I’ve been mentioned 3 times already in this thread, as if I haven’t made my views clear on this subject already. @Voltaire here is your main problem: as the tarrifs and DOGE cuts create, respectively, economic misery and government dysfunction, nobody is going to care about this issue. It may be a vote getter when the economy is going well, I will concede that. When the economy isn’t going well neither this nor any other “woke” issue will be on anyone’s minds at all.

He’s fighting the good fight. The main point, which nobody here seems willing to acknowledge, is that everything he is saying is not only right but also agreed to by the majority of the public: Trump has been an absolute disaster so far. He is causing needless pain across the country with DOGE and the tariffs. People are tired of it. They’re sick of the bullsh!t. Nobody voted for this; they voted for Trump to bring down inflation and that’s not happening. So good for Corey for fighting back; we need more like him.

I approved of most of Biden’s economic policies. (Not his tariffs.) So you won’t find much. But it’s not really comparable. Neither is any discussion of tax cuts, or spending cuts, or anything else Trump is proposing. These tariffs are something completely different from anything any President has ever done, perhaps in our entire history. We can’t even use past tariffs as an analogy. There is no analogy. Trump is attempting to reshape the entirety of world trade. Perhaps you think this is a good thing. Most economists do not. Trump believes the system we have now is unfair to the USA. Perhaps you agree with him. But it is a system that has provided us tremendous prosperity over our lifetimes. I don’t see why we should throw it away.

Just because I vote Democrat doesn’t mean I agree with them on every issue.

I can’t find a single economist out there, conservative or liberal, willing to defend this. Not one. Can you? They all think this is total insanity. I know a fool like @jbycho doesn’t care; he and @Horseman and others look at my reaction and think “owning the libs!” and that’s all they give a crap about. I figured you were different. You’ve shown some thoughtfulness in the past. This is going to be bad. How bad I don’t know. Not the end of the world. But catastrophe, that word seems about right IF Trump sticks to his guns here.

Oh Fock off already. Im not predicting the end of the world. I’m predicting bad economic times and a lot of unnecessary suffering, until Trump reverses himself (which hopefully will be soon.)

Thanks for your concern but I’m doing fine. And I don’t wish others to suffer either including you. I want everyone to do well. Unfortunately we are staring at an economic catastrophe of our own design. Completely unnecessary.
