Trump administration drafting executive order to initiate Department of Education’s elimination
The Real timschochet replied to Mike Honcho's topic in The Geek Club
I promise to draft a meaningless executive order to end a department I have no power to end! You’re right; he’s keeping his promise. Damn impressive. My only question from the story is, what do you mean “begun drafting”? How much time does this take? “I, President Trump, hereby order the Department of Education ended as of today!” What’s wrong with that? -

I asked you specific questions to back up your assertion. I don’t think that’s the behavior of a troll. On the other hand, your response… -

I don’t believe most people are awful. I may be naive about that I know. But I think most people have good intentions. The bad guys are numerous however, and usually louder. -

Again mostly agreed. (Damn twice in one morning.) My only issue is when you write “the colonists weren’t good people either.” Some were. Some were extremely well meaning. Others were awful. There’s generally good people in every grouping. -

Trump cutting funding to South Africa
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
You wrote “American settlers didn’t go out and pick fights with Indians.” How could you write something so false and so stupid? Where did you get this? Have you read a single book on this subject? Name it. Can you list a single historian who will back you up on this claim? Name him. -
Trump cutting funding to South Africa
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
It’s not that simple, as I keep trying to point out. Let’s assume that the white settlers got the land originally by stealing and murdering, conquering, etc. once they got it the ancestors of the current owners worked it, labored for years, and made it profitable. And did this for centuries. That needs to be taken into account. Another issue that needs to be taken into account is that the bulk of the black population of South Africa weren’t there originally; they came down south as a result of the economic opportunities provided by the white settlers. The blacks aren’t the original occupants; that was the bushmen, mostly gone now. The two largest black tribes, the Zulu and the Xhosa, are very different peoples with different competing concerns. Then there are the colored people of South Africa, and Indians (from India) all with different cultures and concerns. And even the whites are basically two different cultures, Afrikaner and British descended, with all that this entails. Complicated. Not an easy question to solve. -

For once I agree with you 100%. This is an absolutely correct take on history. -
The DNC is back. Liberals have figured it out!!! 😂

1. I’ve always been for abortion decisions to be between a woman and her doctor without government interference. Yes it’s a core conviction. Whether the state should fund it is a separate question, depends on the circumstances, usually not, and not a core conviction. 2. I have always been for generally open immigration, never open borders. I am generally extremely sympathetic to non-violent undocumented immigrants who have been law-abiding once they arrived here, and I want them to stay and be given amnesty (with certain conditions). Yes these are core convictions. 3. The trans question is pretty new to me. I have no convictions about it except that the government needs to leave these folks alone to do what they want so long as they don’t harm anybody else. That’s basic libertarianism and it’s a core conviction. Every other question surrounding this issue changes for me depending on the circumstances. -
I’m here all week; try the veal!

Trump 2.0: A Survival Guide for Democrats
The Real timschochet replied to Strike's topic in The Geek Club
We are living, not just in different countries apparently, but in different earths. On my Earth the only wins Trump is achieving is with the groveling Republicans in the Senate for most of his appointments. On just about every other issue he backs down whenever he is challenged. He backed down on the spending freeze, on Columbia, on Canada, on Mexico. Each time he does this he claims victory and most of you suckers buy it but there are no gains made. His biggest splash, the supposed “mass deportation” has been completely performative (even though it has managed to scare the hell out of a lot of innocent people and harmed the economy.) Catch and release is still going on. To be fair, I’m not expecting big things yet; nor should anyone. It’s only been a few weeks. But on the other hand claiming he’s consequential so far, much less “the most consequential President ever” is just absurd. As to whether or not the public agrees with you, remains to be seen. I was heartened to see his approval numbers drop by 5 points over the weekend, but my real feeling is the public isn’t paying much attention yet. If prices don’t drop (their #1 reason for voting for him) by the midterms he will be in for a world of hurt. -
Why don't we have the name of the Blackhawk helicopter pilot?

Umm they deployed 10,000 troops in 2021. They deployed 15,000 troops in 2019. Who are we kidding here? -
Trump 2.0: A Survival Guide for Democrats

Not at all. It’s fun to comment but that’s not the same as triggered. I was triggered by the threat of tariffs I suppose. Most of the rest is just a big circus show. -
Trump 2.0: A Survival Guide for Democrats
The Real timschochet replied to Strike's topic in The Geek Club
Just awful. I should have realized before starting it that anything you like would be terrible reading. Democrats will defeat Trump by letting him be Trump. In less than two weeks he’s already made a fool and fockup of himself a dozen times, and had to cave several times. He’s an idiot and a coward. I’d be embarrassed for you because you voted for him, but then I’m already embarrassed for you. -

The Real timschochet replied to Patented Phil's topic in The Geek Club
They’re not concessions. Both countries already agreed to do this prior to the tarrffs. And it’s not for free either; just the threat of the tariffs have hurt us with S&P and it will be a while before investors return. -

The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
I don’t know man. If my message is so old then why do you keep responding to it? Why do you focus on me so much to the extent of trying to tell humorous stories about me? (My advice is stick to your day job.) I’m not trolling; I believe what I write. I’m not looking for attention so much as a good conversation. If I WAS looking for attention, your replies would be very satisfactory to me. -

I sure as hell did. Ten times the alpha Trump will ever be. -

The Real timschochet replied to Patented Phil's topic in The Geek Club
Lol. Trump never gets any smarter . If he’s stopped saying it it’s only because his mind has moved on to other stuff (like how best to cave in to Canada and Mexico in order to extricate himself from the huge tariff mess he started.) -
Tony strikes me as the type of guy who comes to your house to play Monopoly and brings a wad of hidden 500s from his own game.

You know whenever someone writes “no one cares” about one of my posts, that’s how I know they’re the ones paying the most attention. After all, why else would you have bothered to respond? So I’m grateful to you for reading my meager thoughts. -
Trump cutting funding to South Africa
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
Putting aside the issues surrounding South Africa, I don’t understand how Trump can cut off aid anyhow. Isn’t all spending matters within the jurisdiction of Congress? Last time I checked the Constitution it’s Congress that has the power of the purse. -
Here come the tariffs
The Real timschochet replied to The Phantom's Phantom's topic in The Geek Club
The 10% tariff on all goods from China, set to go into effect tomorrow, will in itself be a huge burden on American consumers. And while I’m glad Trump caved to Canada and Mexico, this whole business is going to hurt American industry. We rely on investments and one thing investors do NOT like is uncertainty.
