No @jonnyutah is lying when he says he “forgot” about it. He’s mentioned it before. I wrote it at the time. It was an awful, stupid thing to write. I’ve apologized for it. i believe now, and believed then, that it should be a crime for an adult to have sex with a minor. However if the sex is willing then I don’t regard it as necessarily rape, or necessarily pedophilia (though it can be either depending on the age of the minor.) I defended Polanski at the time because I believed he had willing sex with a girl whom he believed to be older. I still thought it was an awful act but I didn’t think he deserved to go to prison for it. I’ve since learned that he gave her drugs against her will. That makes it rape. I’ve also since decided that, no matter how old one looks, 13 is still too young and it’s still a serious crime. So I’ve changed my mind on that. And I’ve apologized for what I wrote numerous times. That’s never been enough for @Strike and a few others here: They hound me with it, call me a pedophile, bring it up whenever they are losing a political argument. It gets boring after awhile.

If you can explain why this is at all relevant I will look it up.

Cities don’t need to declare themselves sanctuary cities to be sanctuary cities you moron. They are sanctuary cities if the police force won’t cooperate with ICE by reporting suspected undocumented people living there. That’s certainly the case in Laguna. To be absolutely fair to Trump in this instance, it’s not like Biden or any previous President has answered this question any differently. There is an implication that we will come to the defense of Taiwan if they are ever attacked, but we never come out and actually say it.

I understand your argument. I am HIGHLY skeptical that Trump understands it. My strong suspicion is that, as in so many other instances, you and other Trump supporters come up with nuanced arguments to explain what he decided on the whim of the moment. That being said I will accept your argument because as I wrote earlier I don’t understand enough of this to comment otherwise. And if it benefits the United States I’ll take it, it’s not an L for me.

To claim it’s a categorical lie is a real stretch; you sound like @Strike here. My understanding is that what China got out of this in AI is good enough; they’re not displeased. If you want to point out that it’s not the “best”, fine. I don’t see this as significant though I make no claim to being an expert on this technology. Next? Thanks for your explanation but I pretty much firmly disagree with each of your 9 points: 1. Here you’re conflating Democrats with extreme leftists. I agree somewhat about the statues but not about your overall sentiment. The overreaction to this from the right (for example the attempt to remove topics about slavery and Jim Crow from history textbooks and the Smithsonian) is IMO even worse than what the left has tried to do. 2. Of course there was a problem before George Floyd; his death was only the latest example of institutional racism by the police in this country. Sure there are a few race hustlers out there but they wouldn’t be effective unless the problem was real in the first place. 3. There is a big difference between being pro-Hamas and being critical of many of Israel’s actions. The vast majority of protestors in this country have the latter and not the former, no matter what they were chanting. And the reason it gets so much more attention than Nigeria is because Israel is a western nation, held rightfully to a higher standard, and America gives them aid. 4. You already know my views on trans; it’s diametrically opposed to yours, except on the question of women’s sports. There we probably agree though I don’t see it as a pressing issue. As for the rest of it just leave them alone to be who they are. 5. This didn’t happen. It is, however, happening now. 6. Liberals are not soft on crime. But we recognize that this is a complicated issue and at times we seek more nuanced solutions because the simple ones that conservatives favor often lead to racism and unfair results. 7. There is no issue listed that I disagree with you more than this one. Under Trump ICE is behaving like Gestapo thugs. The overall policy of mass deportation is immoral, anti-American, doomed to fail, and generally bad for us. 8. The reason there are so many lawsuits and judicial decisions that at this time is because the Trump administration keeps breaking the law. 9.
