Well we have different governing philosophies. Which is fine.

His overall point, for which he provided dubious statistics without any backup, is that undocumented Americans don’t work all that hard. That goes against everything I have ever heard or read on this topic. And lol at “you weren’t that far off”. Dude.

Well since there are 2.4 million farm workers in this country, and half of them are undocumented, for your percentage to be correct that would mean there are 120 million undocumented people in this country. Hmm. I think you may be a little off on that one too…want to try again?

They them. J/K. What I mean is that undocumented people, as a general rule, work harder and longer hours and more grueling work than do the vast majority of legal people here.

These are all good points. Except- while I don’t exactly TRUST establishment politicians, I prefer them heavily to the non-establishment ones. You giving them (the establishment) way too much blame for events that were nobody’s fault in particular and certainly not planned beforehand. The main reason I prefer establishment guys is because my main concern is chaotic change. I don’t like “blowing things up”; too many unpredictable consequences. The establishment tends to be conservative (by that I don’t mean in terms of left or right, but cautious about change.)

Not focusing on Trump per se but his policies which raised prices. High prices are the key. If they come down, as Trump promised, Republicans will win. If they stay the same then it’s 50-50. If they go up as I think they will (hope I’m wrong) Democrats will win. No amount of messaging will have much of an impact on this.

I am 100% positive that Trump would love to do almost all of that here. But it’s much more difficult to change our Constitution, or to corrupt our court system, than in Hungary.

Guarantee you they work harder than you, me, and everyone else reading this.

Hitler and the Nazis don’t really fit into a “far-right” description- they are put there because of their war on Communism. But their corporatist structure and collectivism were pretty far removed from far-right ideas. But that’s neither here nor there. The problem with this thread, and with @EternalShinyAndChrome’s posts in general, is that like so many conservatives in this country he confuses American progressives with Communists. This is because, as I have tried to tell him numerous times, he doesn’t know the history.

The Democrats’ message in the next election will be easy: 1. Tarrifs raised prices. 2. Deporting violent migrants is fine. Deporting non-violent migrants raised prices. 3. Trump is clueless and screwing everything up; all he cares about is himself, his billionaire buddies, and getting revenge on his enemies. Thats it. Hammer these 3 points home and they’ll be fine.

And this is the problem. Once this begins it will be difficult to untangle. We’ve had tariffs on Canada and Mexico before. But 25% is unheard of. It’s tantamount to a declaration of war.

I only like the first 2-3 albums- that’s the raw blues that I’m really into. Those albums are awesome. After that I agree with you.

Wow. And you accuse me of offering an ignorant rant? You know nothing about my business. And you obviously know nothing about macroeconomics or capitalism either. And you know nothing about the economics of this country if you believe that the burdens of undocumented immigration exceed the benefits. Unfortunately you’re not alone. So many people believe this. But it’s factually incorrect. Put me on ignore if you want. I won’t ignore you. It’s childish IMO. I’ll continue to read your posts. Sometimes you make thoughtful remarks and you have a good sense of humor. But when I think you get things wrong I will try to correct you. And boy did you ever get this wrong.

This is the exact opposite of the truth. Employers who hire undocumented people lower costs for all of society. They don’t do it to push costs off, they benefit all of us by performing work at a price determined not by the government but by the marketplace. This is capitalism 101.

The interim between losing the current workers and a guest worker program would be catastrophic for the economy. It will never happen. And history has shown that guest worker programs don’t work because nobody ever leaves. Same with undocumented folks; they’re not going anywhere. A far simpler solution than yours is to simply give these folks legal recognition.

I would but the price of vibrators are going to skyrocket along with everything else. Who do you think works in the factories that assemble them? Unless you want me to purchase a foreign made vibrator and there will be a tariff on that too.

Not really no. Do you use the supermarket? Enjoy eating out? Use most retail services? If so this won’t be awesome for you; quite the opposite.

It’s designed to cause fear. They’re doing a good job of it too. Millions of undocumented are scared to send their kids to school, scared to show up for work. There’s going to be some terrible results from this- for the country.
