I pay them cash. Legally I’m allowed to do so without reporting it if the total sum doesn’t exceed $600 a year. It never does.

I have no idea who to believe on this. Of course such a story is possible; there’s tons of stupid waste in our government. But the Trump folks have offered no evidence; that’s why I wrote that it MAY be total bullsh!t. That wouldn’t surprise me because the Trump people make up crap out of thin air.

I’ve never been given that choice. If a documented person wants to stand outside Home Depot looking for work, more power to them. But they don’t. When I need work done I need it done quickly.

Your list is evidence that I’m right. Because an undocumented immigrant is not comparable to ANY of these, and should not be regarded in the same category.

I don’t hire them to save money. How many times do I have to repeat this? I hire them to save TIME.

I’ve stated again and again that I hire undocumented people from time to time because they’re convenient. Because when I need day labor a few times a year they’re available. But I typically pay a pretty hefty sum, usually around $50 an hour.

So what? Why is that such a crime? In the recent past it was considered a misdemeanor. In the not recent past it wasn’t a crime at all. It certainly doesn’t make someone a criminal for doing it. Not in my book. I admire them: they risk everything to come here.

You have a major misunderstanding about me. I don’t pay people lower wages than what the government requires. I’m simply defending the people that do. But I don’t break the law myself.

You’re right about the hypocrisy, but business owners don’t create the demand; American consumers do. Capitalism does. People want the most value for the money they spend, always will.

So stupid. Most of them don’t get any “freebies”.

27 is old enough to know better. Even a 10 year old should know that an undocumented immigrant is not by definition a “criminal” any more than a jaywalker is. It’s absurd and offensive.

I think the 50 million in condoms to Gaza story, which so many of you have posted about here, may be total bullsh!t. Trump’s team has provided no evidence whatsoever and Biden officials say it’s completely false.

My opinion of Donald Trump’s language and behavior is not predicated on the language and behavior of other people.

You’re correct my bad. He did say migrants poisoned the blood of the country. So I don’t see much of a distinction. I suppose as an added question I would ask her if he still regards his opponents as vermin.

I’m very sorry about your brother. Your story about him is appalling. I suspect my own solution to the ER problem is completely opposed to yours, and we’ll never agree, but that doesn’t make what happened to your brother any more acceptable. My brother died of cancer a few years ago. Best wishes to your family.

I actually appreciate a lot of this post. Not the remarks about Rusty or Democrats, but about Nazis and how you are the heirs of Normandy. I believe you; I’m not worried about you being a Nazi. I’m not worried about Trump being a Nazi either. But I AM concerned about Trump being a Viktor Orban. Not a Hitler, but a guy with authoritarian tendencies. I think you know that Trump is bending the rules. I think you’re willing to let it go because you’re so fed up with liberalism and Trump is willing to fight back. I get that. But your position is not a wise one. When we start to lose the principles that make this nation great they may not easily return.

I don’t know if she’s a grifter. But she’s not honorable because she works closely for Donald Trump and repeats his lies. Someone should ask her this question: “During his campaign, President Trump stated several times that migrants were vermin who were poisoning the blood of our country. Can he explain what he meant by these remarks?” Make no mistake: Donald Trump may be the President but he is a bigot and an awful human being. It’s fine to work for the government during his term if you truly believe you are serving your country. But if you work closely with him in a role that serves to spread his ugliness, lies and bile, as a press secretary would, you bring dishonor upon yourself, and a permanent stain.

I listened. I was not impressed. She repeated many ot Trump’s lies, shouted over the questions, and seemed to enjoy the fawning praise she received from Breitbart. Most of all her definition of “criminal” is offensive. But given her job I guess she was fine. Still what honorable person would want this job?

A lot of the confusion is because of the language: for instance “green new deal”. There is no green new deal, there was one proposed years ago but it never passed. So what does this even mean?

A federal judge just shut this down for now.

Does it matter? Congress won’t challenge him and the SC already decided he can’t be held accountable.
