I was trying to figure out who @Horseman reminded me of with his idiotic posts which are constantly the equivalent of “I know you are but what am I?” arguments…now I’ve got it.

There are a hundred thousand government expenditures that don’t make sense and are a waste of money. Trump has been in office less than a week. He could have focused on any of them. Why this one, and John Bolton? Because he’s petty and vindictive.

Anyone who hopes for his failure is being a jerk. Don’t get me wrong: from what I can see Hegseth is an incompetent idiot, totally unqualified for this position, and a bad person as well. But if he fails now then our military fails. So we need him to be good at this, or at least not muck things up too badly. I root for his success and wish him luck.

No. He might still have slipped through the cracks. Another bad guy might have slipped through the cracks. I don’t believe the cracks can ever be adequately closed to stop all of this sort of crime. And at least for me the price is too high. I’m not willing to tear apart the lives of innocent people. You know what societies have very few rapes and murders, HT? Police states. Soviet Russia. Nazi Germany. The streets were safe from violent crime. I’m not willing to pay that price.

SCOTUS is a different issue. I wouldn’t mind them there. But for elected positions, aren’t elections themselves term limits?

No I reject your argument. If we had more organized border policies, which I would prefer, it still would not prevent violent criminals from coming here. Some will still get through. I’m not even convinced less would get through. But I detest Trump’s “solutions” to this issue, because I think they harm innocent people. And I’m not willing to do that based on the possibility that a bad dude MIGHT have been prevented from killing Laken Riley. And guys like @HellToupee think that because of my rejection of their draconian ideas I am therefore personally responsible for Laken Riley’s death. That’s bullsh!t, it’s not an “inconvenient truth.
