Which is, let’s face it, a complete and total embarrassment. Thirty years from now you’ll pretend to your grandkids that you never voted for the guy. -

Thats a federal action based on what I read. Again I don’t have time to get into it, but I am highly skeptical of your assertion that liberal policies significantly contributed to this crisis. -

Rick Caruso was a centrist Republican who, since Trump arrived, became a centrist Democrat. But his views haven’t really changed. He’s pro-business, socially liberal (but not leftist), anti- socialist, anti-populist. -

Even if you were correct about all of this (and I don’t have the time to argue whether you are or not) there’s a lot of reasons to vote for liberal Democrats if you yourself are a liberal Democrat, beyond the issues you mentioned. -

Not on this topic because I don’t agree with most of the Democrat’s proposed solutions to climate change. Or the Republicans. I vote Democrat but not because of this issue. -

I was referring specifically to Rick Caruso. But he may run for governor instead. -

Not sure much of this pertains to the Palisades fire in which I’m told controlled burns wouldn’t have made a significant difference. I’m also not sure what homelessness has to do with it though I’d love to solve that issue, we all would. How? As to the rest of your points, they’re interesting. I’ll have to defer to firefighters or those in the know as to whether or not we’re already doing a lot of this stuff or if it would make an impact. I’m not educated enough to speculate. -

Look the scientists tell me it’s never been this frequent or this bad. I believe them and pay attention. If that makes me a fraud in your eyes then so be it. But I don’t have any agenda here. -

It’s 6:15 am. In one hour I head to work. Then I will be making calls to try to find an Airbnb for my in laws for a few months, right now they’re at my sister in law in Manhattan Beach but it’s too crowded there and I’m too far away in Orange County. Rest assured I’m on it, this is just killing time for me. But hey thanks for your concern! -

After reading this article I DO think it’s reasonable to criticize the mayor, Karen Bass, over her 17 million dollar spending cut for the LA Fire Department, especially given the fact that in early December the fire chief warned that the cut would impact emergency response: https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/california-wildfires/la-widlfires-budget-cuts-palisades-fire/3598438/?amp=1 -

Whether it is storms in the south, hurricanes in the southeast, fires in California, etc. severe weather conditions are going to take a huge toll and dominate our lives in this time of man-made climate change. And it’s only going to get worse. This is the new normal. -

So- the main point to stress is this: these fires are not like other fires that have occurred in the past in Southern California. This was an anomaly. Yesterday was the worst day in southern California’s history, and the worst day in California history since the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. Liberal policies didn’t cause this disaster or make it particularly worse. Lots of mistakes were made and it will be easy for many to be armchair quarterbacks afterwards. And some thoughtful criticism is justified. Personally I believe the scientists who tell me that climate change is responsible for severe weather conditions like the unheard of 8 month drought and impossibly high winds that contributed significantly to this catastrophe. But that doesn’t matter because at this point there is little we can do to stop climate change. -

This was posted at FBG by BobbyLayne: Millions of views spreading lies about the Palsiades firefighters lacking water because of regulations, the boring truth comes late like usual and won’t be shared: 1. Reservoirs and tanks were at normal levels and completely full before the fires. 2. All 114 city water supplies were fully stocked pre-fire. 3. A 15 hour surge at four times normal demand reduced water pressure. 4. High demand at lower elevations slowed filling tanks at higher elevations. 5. This unprecedented fire was fueled by 8 months of no rain and 85mph winds. Water is being brought in continuously. 6. Even if the protection of the Delta Smelt caused over regulation in California, it’s the FEDERAL Endangered Species Act that requires the protection of endangered species like the Delta Smelt and their habitats, not Gavin Newsom of California. -

Trump wrote yesterday that he plans to pay for his tax cuts with tariffs. If he goes through with this then the Democratic game plan for winning elections over the next for years will become incredibly easy: “if we are elected we will eliminate the tariffs and your prices will go down.” Simple and effective. -

As usual I strongly disagree with almost all of your political points here. And in the case of climate change it goes beyond even disagreement as I believe you are deliberately choosing to ignore science and evidence, But that being said I am sorry for your sister.
