This response is typical of Trump supporters in general at this point. They’ve stopped trying to defend the specifics of what Trump is doing. They’re simply acknowledging that it’s going to be painful and trolling the rest of us.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Almost everything else Trump has done so far has been a performative stunt. The tariffs on the other hand seem quite real to me, and to our neighbors.

Nobody wins a trade law. Everybody loses. Canada can’t win but they can make us suffer. And they will. Canada is also unable to surrender because Trump has made no specific demands on them.

Lawrence O’ Donnell said something tonight that I think is 100% true: all Donald Trump has to do tonight is say “I changed my mind; there won’t be any more tariffs for the rest of my term and you won’t hear me talk about this again” and the stock market would go through the roof tomorrow. Plus we would avoid a recession.

Anyone who believes that there is no moral difference between Putin and Zelensky has no credibility. Putin has shown himself to be a genocidal mass murderer who is the dictator of one of the most potentially powerful nations on Earth with nuclear weapons. Zelensky is the democratically elected leader of a small free country.

@peenie isn’t justifying anything here. Nobody approves of murder, or crime in general. The questions are: which ones do you focus on and what does it say, if anything, about society in general? The United States and South Africa have very different histories, but there are a couple of things in common: one is that both feature an incredible amount of racism by white people against black people, including slavery, segregation, murder, mistreatment, and brutality. Second is that this sort of racism only ended very recently BY LAW, after centuries, but still exists in terms of culture and privilege. A final similarity is that white people have NEVER been victims in either society except in very small anecdotal instances which are only notable for their rarity, and when you find white people regarding themselves as victims, this is usually a sign of white supremacy or outright bigotry.

This is true in a vacuum. But there are other people reading our discussion. When I respond to HT my comments are for them. HT himself is a moron (or at least, for some inexplicable reason, pretending to be one) so I don’t expect him to understand anything.

It’s a discussion about how a nation has been invaded, hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children are dying in real time, and we’ve effectively switched our allegiance to side with the architect of this crime against humanity. Trump has made it easy for the Liberal Party. All of their mistakes have been forgotten. The dislike and resentment of Trump had the entire country unified. In only a few weeks Donald Trump has focked America over in so many ways, it’s incredible the amount of damage he has done.

Regarding Soros: he’s not evil, he’s simply liberal and spending money to promote liberalism. The late Sheldon Adelson, and now his wife Miriam, are Jews who have heavily supported conservatism and Donald Trump. They’re not evil either.

You appear to be saying that white people need to stay in power to avoid becoming victims of other races. You sound very much like a white supremacist here. Are you one?

Your response is unbelievable even for you. Yes it took these people some time to escape from Afghanistan- most weren’t able to. Of 100,000, as I wrote, only 20,000 got away. Then once in Pakistan they had to go through the American system of accepting refugees. That involves strict screening as you know, and the waiting time is a long one to actually get here. Time and again, including last year, Democrats have asked for more manpower and money to process these people but Republicans have voted against every time and blocked it. Even so, these 20,000 people were safe in Pakistan while they waited in line to come here. Isn’t that what you guys are always going on about? People doing this the proper way? Waiting in line, instead of sneaking in? These folks followed the legal process all the way through. They had visas to come here. Now with the stroke of a pen Trump has rescinded those visas. And now these 20,000 pro-American men, woman and children, our former allies, will be retuned to Afghanistan and executed. Does this seem good to you? Is it what you wanted?

Russia is demanding more than that. They are demanding a new government in Ukraine subservient to Russia. In effect they want to be in control of Ukraine’s elections and they want leadership under the control of Putin with the idea of an eventual reunification of the two countries. Thats why I compared this to the Anschluss earlier. Trump seems willing to acquiesce to this. Are you?

By “end the war” do you mean force Ukraine to surrender? Please be specific.
