Ooh I’m badly hurt and bothered by your constant insults.
-
It’s not day right now sadly. There is a 24 hour taqueria down the street but I’m too lazy.
-
Again not really. Like I wrote, the Dems were rude. But there is also the fact that 90% of Trump’s remarks were belligerent, designed for his base. Surely you don’t expect Democrats to applaud policies they don’t support? They should have applauded for the kid and for the guy released from Russia, but that’s about it.
-
Well it’s not useless to you. Half of your posts or more are in response to mine. Lololol
-
Mmm. Tamales sound good right now. I wish somebody paid me in tamales. Also- I always love it when I am accused of “virtue signaling” when discussing politics. Since when did it become a bad thing to seek virtue?
-
Not really. There was a few rude people tonight, just like there were a few rude Republicans a year ago the last time Biden did one of these. Don’t overstate it. You do that a lot.
-
Am I? OK

Well first there is this: not DOGE but Musk: https://futurism.com/neoscope/elon-musk-kills-child-cancer-spending And this is DOGE: https://m.economictimes.com/news/international/us/doge-slashes-research-funds-to-private-medical-sector-scientists-warn-china-could-snatch-americas-brightest-minds/amp_articleshow/118485801.cms You keep bringing up timeline, is your point that these cuts would have had nothing to do with this kid? Thats obviously true. And it was classless of the Democrats not to applaud him. But the irony is certainly there nonetheless.
-
No. Trump’s honeymoon is over. Partly DOGE, partly the fact that prices haven’t gone down, mostly the tariffs. This speech isn’t going to help. Trump played it to you and the other MAGA fans, not to the country at large. The Democrats actions or inactions over the next two years mean absolutely nothing. They will do very well in 2026 simply because they are the alternative.
-
It really doesn’t matter, you still applaud the kid. You can point out the irony later on.
-
Hope you guys enjoyed it. It was filled with lies. Pretty depressing. I was hoping for news about Ukraine but he didn’t even commit to Zelensky other than saying he appreciated the letter. I don’t like the way the Democrats behaved. Pretty classless IMO. I don’t appreciate classless behavior no matter who it’s from. Even if you don’t respect Trump (and I don’t) respect the office, respect the chamber. I know someone will point out that Republicans have been rude in the past. I don’t care. Rudeness is rudeness. Unacceptable. The child with brain cancer was a moving moment and everyone should have cheered. There is irony however in the fact that DOGE cut spending for brain cancer research. For me the best moment in the speech was when Trump welcomed back the guy held hostage in Russia. Trump deserves credit for his release. Thats all I got for now.

Zelenskyy is back for Sloppy Seconds, says he will work under Trump’s leadership as he proposes Ukraine peace plan

Because it’s not up to Zelensky to end this war. It’s up to Putin to call it off. And the way to get him to do that is to keep supporting Ukraine, unequivocally, until the stalemate is simply too costly for Russia to maintain. Which, IMO, wouldn’t have taken too long. I firmly believe that if Kamala Harris had won we would already have seen Putin seeking a way out and we might have an honorable peace by now. -
I wasn’t gleeful about that HT. I think it needed to happen (still do) but it didn’t make me happy. I’m pretty sure I won’t enjoy this speech. No doubt you will. Have fun.
-
I’m probably gonna leave it to you guys to cheer until he’s done. I’ll comment afterwards; I don’t want to spoil your fun. Enjoy yourselves.
-
The pain we’re getting now will mostly be from the new tariffs on Mexico and Canada…your attempt (and Trump’s) to blame it on the last 4 years won’t fly with the public.
-
Here comes the circus clowns…oops I mean the cabinet.

“At least he’s trying to do something” is just not going to be a compelling argument for most people. It wasn’t for Biden and it won’t be for Trump. Especially in this case because overall he’s making it worse. -

I give him credit for the minerals deal. I think it’s a good deal. I hesitated with that at first but I’m sold. He should have signed it on Friday. I don’t give Trump credit for Friday. I thought that was horrible. I don’t give Trump credit for giving in to just about all of Putin’s demands. I think that’s horrible too. -

The Real timschochet replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
The main issue of contention on Friday was that Zelensky said he didn’t trust Russia to keep their word. That’s what started Vance attacking him and then Trump joined in. In this letter Zelensky says he will agree to a ceasefire and several steps IF Russia does the same. So it sure seems to me like he’s saying the exact same thing: Ukraine wants peace but how can they trust Russia? Now the Trump folks may take this letter, call it a victory and sign the mineral agreement, but let’s not kid ourselves: if that happens it will be Trump reversing himself, not Zelensky. For some inexplicable reason Trump had a temper tantrum on Friday but now he will do the right thing, hopefully. (It was just reported that Trump may reverse himself on the tariffs too as early as tomorrow.) -

Well to be honest I’m still a little confused. Here is a challenge for you: take a look at Zelensky’s statement and find something original in it that he did not propose until today. -

But the other hand the 15 or so trannies who were thinking about competing in girls sports might reconsider now, maybe, possibly. So there’s that. -

Trump and Vance Own Ungrateful Femboy Zelensky
The Real timschochet replied to League Champion's topic in The Geek Club
That would be very good news. One point that JD Vance made on Hannity yesterday is that the involvement of American firms in Ukraine is itself a security guarantee. I agree. -
Here come the tariffs
The Real timschochet replied to The Phantom's Phantom's topic in The Geek Club
Of course you’re right. Not what I meant. What I meant is that it benefits us not to respond in kind. Example: we sell product X to China. They place a tariff on it. That doesn’t benefit us. China sells product Y to us. That benefits us. If we place a tariff on product Y (as a retaliation to the tariff China has on product X) that doesn’t benefit us, even if it’s fair, so we shouldn’t do it UNLESS the ultimate result will be a removal of tariffs on both products X and Y- but that’s a pretty big risk. It’s far more likely that X and Y will simply be higher as a result, because once trade wars start they are very difficult to stop.
